someone f'd up the launch with that Vette. You can see how much wheel spin he had... lit the tires up.

It was clear by the video that at the half-way point the only reason that Vette made any ground up was because the driver of the GT-R was easing off until the Vette made up his lost ground. That GT-R driver was just pouring some salt in the Vette driver's wound. I use to do it all the time when I raced Vettes in my Mustang Cobra Terminator.

Actually he was not letting up. The Vette on the top end wil catch the GTR all day long. The GTR is only going ot pull strong off the line with all wheel drive. At some point weight and hp are going to take over and thats exactly what happend. There are numerous videos of Vettes and Vipers whipping up on the GTR... why should this one be any different???

I can get the jump on Vettes all day long with my modded Jeep SRT-8 because of the all wheel drive but it wont be long until they are catching me.

m4a1mustang 06-30-2009 07:43 AM

Exactly. If the 'Vette hooked off the line we'd have seen it pulling away from the GTR.

ZKindaGuy 06-30-2009 10:18 AM

I stand by what I say as as I have personally witnessed a GT-R hand Vettes and Mustangs their butts to them.

GIVEN MORE TRACK LENGTH anyone can claim that any car with top end power will eventually overtake the better off-the-line car / driver.

It is what it is though as a 1/4 mile is what it officially is. And I don't see any movement out their wanting to extend the track length so a particular car or driver can do better against other cars that are set up correctly to maximize hooking the road. And as they say in the drag world if you can't get it done in a 1/4 mile then you need to either get a different car or configure the car you are driving better....

The outcome is what it is...a loss for the Vette and in this case less power was more and a victory...and that makes the GT-R an all around better and stronger car.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to throw the BS flag out on this one. The GTR should get a better launch (assuming they didn't mind voiding the warranty), but it's heavier not nearly as aerodynamic as the Vette. The Vette has more power, and LIKELY has a lot more torque which is really what wins drag races.

I would say this was a BS video.

you make no sense. you are saying the GTR has a better launch...which is shown in the vid, then that the Vette has more HP (which is shown in the vid as well) and TQ + better aerodynamics (known fact). The vid portrays just that....launch GTR owns (+ it has the HKS kit), then further down the road when overall hp + tq + aerodynamic really come into play the Vette catches up.

:wtf: are you smoking :ugh2:

that is one hilarious assumption with no proof :rofl2:

American Muscle caught up quite well !!

The Gt-R driver was drinking some soda and stopped paying attention to the Corvette.
