nice car, hyundai isnt my type of car but this one looks great, especially with the matte paint

crazyyankfan 09-21-2012 10:11 PM

Congrats on the new ride. Personally I would be so afraid of the matte paint after reading some info about it...

Thanks guys! I am loving the look of the car and my wife is the one that drives it. She is extremely happy with it. Perfect for her. Not perfect for me.. I love my Z!

Veloster (whether standard or turbo) is simply a girl's car. It just feels like so in every way I think.

wheee! 09-22-2012 11:26 AM

I wouldn't go that far.... I would say that it is great car for people that do not want (need) gobs of power and speed like a Z, but need room for passengers and groceries etc. The styling is not feminine to the point of loss of masculinity, but it is softer than the Z.
I know the members of this forum are like me and would pass on this car as a personal car, but as a second or third car for the wife... I like it!

Not a girls car...I considered a veloster turbo and wanted the matte paint..but I would have been waiting an extra year. Just couldn't do it :icon17:

Drove one today! Not a bad car. I liked what they've done with the styling, interior especially; but I am a young male. I don't think it quite competes with the MS3 or FocusST with the given price per hp but I'm happy to see Hyundai continuing to keep up the competition.

For throw away car it seems decent. It's a little porky for turbo 1.6 but for cheap beater commute car it beats a Honda fit or a toyota Yaris for sure!

Dollar for dollar, it is hard to beat for style, performance and quality. I am happy with it and the wife loves it. Everybody wins :)

Wow, heck of a post. I wouldn't exactly call a brand new, mid-$20k range Veloster turbo a "throw away, cheap beater", but to each their own.

So Wheeel, you had all weekend to drive it??? PUT us on... lol :driving:

What are your performance likes and dislikes thus far? I know you can't really whip it yet but I'm sure you have had a chance to hit a few corners, soak up a few bumps and make a few traffic passes. :tiphat:

So far I am impressed with the Zippiness of the car.... I have been a passenger more than a driver as of late because the wife is the principal driver of this car. Surprisingly, it feels better as a passenger than a driver. Maybe because I am expecting it to react like the Z and instead, I can just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Handling is firm but forgiving, small amount of body lean in corners. The acceleration is smooth and torquey. Visibility is surprisingly good considering the design, but then again the Z is terrible! Road noise is low and the engine and exhaust note are almost imperceptible... wife loves that, I hate it!
I would give the car an 8 out of 10 for cars in it's class. Loses a point for exhaust note and engine noise (lack of), and loses a point for no automatic temperature control (my other cars have that and I miss it in this one).

Let us know when you gonna pump up the PSI on the turbo and see how far it could go =P

:icon18: My wife would kill me! I bought the Z for her, then I modded it, then I had to buy her a car again cuz the Z is mine now...

a smart man knows when to stop.....
