That'll buff out

That sucks. No car is actually worth that money, though, and I can't say I'm crying for the rich guy who owns it, not while I'm paying a mortgage lol.

It may not be to you but I'm sure it is to someone else

Well, obviously, since someone paid for it. Am I not entitled to my opinion? Look, I watch Mecum, I watch Barrett Jackson, I watch Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini. I understand that there is a car collector culture, and I understand that people put this kind of money out.

These big ticket vehicles are worth this money because of hype. In a material sense, the vehicle is not actually worth what was paid. It's all wrapped up in speculation, history, and imagined significance.

It's not cool that the car was wrecked, I agree. But cars get crashed. It happens. I'm sure it was insured.

I'm supposed to feel sad because some rich guy I don't know broke his toy? Oh, boo hoo hoo. The other owners of this car aren't saddened. Their car just appreciated in value. I wouldn't trade my Z for this car if they were equal value. The only reason people buy them is speculation, hoping to sell it off at a higher value at a later date to some other speculator.

Lemers 07-16-2012 11:34 AM

Value is all relative. People who make a sh!t ton of money and have a lot of disposable income buy things like that. I don't feel bad for the owner either. It was a toy and insured and even if it totaled he's probably going to get more in return because there are only 38 others like it.
