Oh yeah... the Veloster makes for a great second car DD or if you're willing to mod a FWD's suspension? Go for it. Turbos make for cheap and fast power mods as well. But I couldn't give up the Z.

If you really enjoy torque steer, buy an MS3 or Veloster turbo. If you want a DD, get something that a. isn't as ugly (holy crap is the veloster ugly as hell, don't even get started on the new genesis coupe), and b. has untested reliability.
If you really want a DD, honda civics are still selling for a reason. |
Also Look at the Focus ST coming out in September. Under 25K base, 252 hp, 270 ft/lb torque and reviews are raving about the handling.

What you missed is that the Veloster can get 38mpg's vs an MS3 that gets 25mpg highway and 17 city or a VW that gets 21/28mpg. Looks are subjective. I have been in the veloster, it has a high quality interior, high quality paint, tons of standard features. And I find the car to actually be very unique in a sea of dull compact commuters. I think its a more attractive car than a gencoupe. The veloster isn't ready to compete against established names on a performance level, but has surpassed them in a price/quality level instantaneously. 29/38 34combined is great for a 201hp sub 7 second to 60 car that costs less than 24k. this car is less than the MS3 and GTI. But I would say its greater than a civic and corolla if I'm looking for fun on the cheap. Good job hyundai. |

Don't hate because he bought the Z hybrid. |
From what I have heard recently, the Veloster handles like poo.
I'll have to test drive it to know for sure. That would probably break me of wanting one if true. |
my z is has 450hp and gets 45mpg....
