Once again the GTR wipps the Porsche 911 S

Notice how Tiff couldn't hardly talk or smile while driving the 911 in comparison to him on the GTR. The verdict GTR still faster by 3sec.

GTR is no doubt a beast, however I would take the 911 S any day of the week

I'd take either of them in a heartbeat.

Porsche :yum:

I'm glad an AWD supercar can beat a RWD sports coupe. I'd glady take the Porsche as well.

Supercar or not, its a fair comparison when looking at prices...

Fair enough. But you've got to be silly to realistically think a 911 CS has a shot at matching the lap times of the GT-R. And similarly silly to consider the GT-R besting the CS as some sort of real victory. It's a given.

It's akin to comparing a Pirelli World Challenge GT car's lap time around Laguna Seca to that of a Continental Tire Challenge GS car's time. :icon17:

I somewhat agree and somewhat don't. Bang for the performance buck, GTR shows its stuff here. But that's kinda like pitting a boss mustang against a 335i. Both have the same MSRP, but the boss would crush it in performance tests.

Exactly. All I'm saying is the people who know know that the GT-R is really not setting its sights at the performance level of the 911 CS... instead it's looking higher at the Turbo and GTX cars. That's what it does.

Exactly couldnt agree more. Silly to compare the meek little 911 S against this fire breathing turbo monster. It certainly highlights value of the GTR but its not a fair fight. Lets see how the new 991 GT2 fairs against the GTR. Or even the new 991 based GT3 when it hits the streets.

I agree that is 100% fair on the performance side, but rice side, you could have what? 2 and a half 3 GTR's? Not arguing, its just interesting. It's not like we are talking about an Aston Martin who just tries to make their Luxury cars look and kind of feel sporty. Porsche's are supposed to be very high end sports cars.

Again, sure not putting down Porsche because I’d still take the Porsche its more of a complement to Nissan!

911 turbo against a GT-R. I take the 911. 911 S against a GT-R??? I take the GT-R.

Sysopz 06-21-2012 02:09 PM

I really don't know how to judge a good driver but the guy driving those cars was pretty awesome IMO.

chris410 06-21-2012 02:14 PM

Like others said, Carrera S is nothing of a challenge for a GTR. Then again, very few cars really are!

While the GTR was faster, if I had the choice on which one to drive at the track I'd have to choose the 911 CS, GTR is simply too good and too easy for my taste. If I want a computer to do the work for me, I'll save the money and play Gran Turismo. However, if I were racing in a series and I was worried about results VS fun...I'd go with the GTR without hesitation.

Sorry, I was just pointing out the 911 CS difference for those who might confuse it for the 911 turbo S.

I'll edit my post...my bad!

Well the turbo is almost double the price of the GTR.

The 911 regardless of model is a much nicer all around ride imho.

Great you feel that way. I feel anything with turbos has more potential all around. And a 1000 hp GT-R seems like more fun to me than a S.

Throw in the 911 turbo and its a ahole different ball park. But I get it. Most of you will feel more important in a porsche... more prestige behind the name.

I'm just going by what I think would be more fun to own.

lol, I wouldn't run away from either car. I think either would be a great time to own

Zoren 370 06-21-2012 06:26 PM

Honestly I think every man or even a young boy at one point in time dream t of owning a Porsche.
But realistically based on my personal position in life...The GTR would be the closesest thing to reality of owning one. Maybe 5 to 6 years down the road.

The Porsche is like winning a Lottery on a 1 in a million chance.

GTR's are fugly, they could be the star of The Fast and the Fugly movie starring the equally fugly vin desil

Nismo89 06-21-2012 08:49 PM

appearence of the GT-R i think (as with everything in life) is a matter of personal preference, some people dont like the the styling of Godzilla, others( like myself) think it looks great.

and as it stands...the GTR is less money. powerful and STILL made Porsche its b*tch. haha :P

all in what you like i suppose

Yeah! I'm excited to see how the new 991 Turbo will compare to the R35 GT-R. The GT-R is amazing in how it set a new standard for super-sportscar performance at great value for money.

Is Nissan working on a new GT-R now ?

R35 platform has 4-5 more years R36 is looking like 2018 now

between now and then its gonna be tweaked every year with a rumored overhaul in 2015 similar to what took place last year

R36??? Did they release a drawing or a prototype of how it would look like?

The good news is the back end of the GT-r is quite nice looking.....
http://www.auto-types.com/images/_au...ar-view_43.jpg
see?

It's nice that Nissan paid special attention to this part of the GT-R since it's the only part Porsche owners are most likely to see.

na i talked to one of the lead japanese engineers and project managers on the GTR team and he said everything is focused on the next few years of the R35 and he stated it was a long ways off.

i mean there is so much going on with the R35 in the next few years i wouldnt expect protoypes until maybe 2016 or something

the persisting rumor is that it will incorporate hybrid technology and the groundwork was layed for it a few years ago in the essence prototype

Elysium 06-22-2012 01:43 PM

I prefer the GT-R! As you can tell....
