Nissan Lemans Deltawing Love it or Hate it

Looks like a batmobile to me!!! Hate it too slow in the track and small to be seen just like what happen here. Nakijima in Toyota hybrid knock off both Japanese cars out of Lemans...Too sad.
Audi made it again with 4 cars finishing the race with 2 hybrids.

Watch out for a GTR hybrid! Future looks economical and FAST!

im kinda neutral about it. not sure if i love it or hate it yet. i do like them thinking outside the box tho. only time will tell how successful it is tho

I kind of like it. Most modern F1 and Sports Prototype looks leave me cold, but the Delta Wing is very refreshing. Hope it races again. I still can't figure out how it can corner with that narrow front track.

I might agree on you with that. Few years back they were laughing about the Prius hitting the road...Today Audi did win the 24 hr Lemans on a Hybrid P-type.

The Nissan Leaf is another innovation did by Nissan its the true electric car.
Drove one the other day and drives like a comfort of a BMW 5series
I was blown away!!! I might consider getting one. As my DD

370Z Hybrid anyone?

Just so you guys know, Nissan didn't design the car. Another company did. It was shown at the Petit LeMans without a manufacturer sponsor for the drivetrain. Nissan only provides the powerplant and sponsorship.

Mike would you know if it was from Wayne Enterprise?:ughdance:

That sounds familiar, but I really can't remember.

I like it. That whole "harder to see" excuse is kind of BS if you ask me. The guy in the Toyota Hybrid was driving pretty aggressive into the turn and made a stupid move. It was almost one of those d*ck move you pull on Gran Turismo.

I am the master of that on Gran Turismo... keeps you in the lane and lets you take the corner faster - plus eliminates the competition :)

:iagree: Nakijima just doesn't have the experience with Lemnas,
Same thing happened to the young driver of the Ferrari that caused the Toyota Hybrid Flying in the air!

I really do think it was because of visibility. The front of that car is so tiny and narrow when it's approaching you from the side, there isn't much car to see.

Several other drivers complained that it was too small as well

I think the concept is cool, but I like the regular cars. Those Audis are super sexy!

That just means the Toyota has crappy visibility. Compared to the Deltawing, that thing is probably like driving with an eyepatch. I'm not buying the lower visibility excuse. F-1 & Indy cars are pretty narrow up front too. It's about awareness of all cars around you to make a pass...and the Toyota driver just didn't have it. If my car has a blind spot and I hit something because I didn't see it, it's still my fault.

gomer_110 06-18-2012 09:56 PM

FWIW The horrific crash last year involving Rockenfeller's Audi and the Waltrip Ferrari, while debatable, was partially caused by this same poor visibility issue. With all the tech in the prototypes I'm really surprised they don't have some type of "blind spot monitoring" system.
