So, my wife's dream car is a mkiv supra... Being military I have been a lot of places and built up a little network for myself.. got her a 1994 TT hardtop w/ 50k miles imported from Japan and registered in the states. Great present for her to come home to from deployment. Pics are attached :D.

nice find, was there any issues importing and registering a right hand drive car.

a law just passed here that no more registering of right hand cars from 1971 to the present.

Um... There are definately issues importing and registering. But like I said I have a pretty good network of friends and called in a few favors so it wasn't too bad for me.

Is the reason you were able to because the car existed in the states and had been crash tested as a US version? That's interesting..

Very interesting. Beautiful car.

Josh, I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about lol.

Josh@STILLEN 06-09-2009 12:49 AM

lol.. usually (let's take the skyline).. they are impossible to be imported and registered because they didn't pass the federal guidelines for being a vehicle produced and 'proven' to be worthy for the US..

Interesting that you're able to register a right-hand drive Japan-spec car in the US, I was curious to understand why that would be acceptable.

I am in no way versed in the ways of getting a car into the US and getting it road-worthy.. but I know some on this forum probably have some better idea.. heck there is probably guys in my office that are, I was just curious.

Oh lol.. well to do it you usually have to change a lot of things.. like the windows and the lights etc... This one I had it brought over told the people that I know that deal with this sort of thing to get it inspected and ready to go and they did... voila.. us registered.

I think maybe you're using more juice than you realize.. but I'll shutup now.. :D
