Strange to see the STI on there and not the Evo!
Also CAR OPINIONS |
I'm curious....what is everybody else's ideas for the top 10?
|
The list is pretty solid, the word 'affordable' throws it for a twist.
Are we just talking 100k purchase price is affordable or under 100k purchase price and then still affordable post purchase? Also the list is almost all current cars and I am sure there are some sports cars from earlier eras that could make the list besides just the supra/300zx/rx7. |
lol @ everyone angry

I would kind of group the different generations of the Z cars together though as well as throwing the Evo in there grouped together with the Sti. |

seriously, this sounds fun. I will bite. 1. Ford business coupe. It started the modification and racing scene in america. 2. Corvette C1 not really affordable, but it set in motion something quite important. 3. 240z because Racecar 4. Miata because it is the epitome of affordable sports car. and the doors. 5.0 Ford mustang because it is the original pony car(cheap speed) 6. Acura NSX- a supercar for the masses. 7. Mini cooper 8. Evo cuz it showed us with turbo, any grocery getter becomes fun. 9. Camaro though i don't like them, they have done a very good job at the cheap speed formula 10. Skyline Gt-r/GTR a techno wizardry supercar for the masses. Flame on. |
BUT THE 300ZX COST MORE IN 1995 DOLLARS THAN THE 370z COSTS NOW HOW CAN IT BE MORE AFFORDABLE?!

B1ades, great idea for a personal top 10! I've been kicking this idea around as I look for a car to replace my S4:
Caveat- these are in no particular order. 1. WRX/STi- Quick/Fast (depending on mod level) turbo, AWD- nice to have in my state and at my hometown altitude (6,060'). It only gets higher from here. 2. Lancer Evolution- see above 3. 350z/370z- I see the 370 as an excellent evolution from the 350 and not quite the re-write that the 350 was from the 300. 4. Corvette C5/C6- yeah it's plastic and the interior isn't anything to write home about, but the performance is undeniable and you can get them second-hand on the cheap. 5. 2011+ Mustang 5.0- in no-man's land between its heavier Camaro/Challenger brethren and 2-seaters/smaller cars like the 370z. Goes, stops, and turns just fine in my book. 6. Mazdaspeed 3, either generation- I don't particularly care for their looks, but they make good power, useful interior for people and things, and are cheap. 7. B5 chassis S4- kind of a homer pick, but the 2.7TT has been shown to make good power, and a K04 upgrade makes them as close to a Euro-only RS4 as one could want. 8. S2000- Honda reliable, revs to forever, one of the first accessibly-priced cars to give us features that make us grin, such as a push-button starter. 9. Nissan GTR- A car that can throw down against just about anything, regardless of price. 'Nuff said. 10. Acura NSX- Re-wrote the book on what a supercar could be from both a performance and reliability standpoint. Compared to the Ferrari 348, which was its initial competition, the NSX was laughably superior, at a relative bargain price. S. |
The Mazda Miata is easily the best when it comes to affordable sports cars. There's a good reason for why it's the highest selling sports car of all time by far. Plus it's consistently rated amongst the best drivers cars of all time regardless of price.
The Honda S2000 is another great one in the under 40K category. For up to 100K the Porsche Boxster Spyder/ Cayman R easily. |
1. 370z coupe base
2. 370z coupe base + sports 3. 370z coupe touring 4. 370z coupe touring w/ sports 5. 370z Nismo 6. 370z coupe sport touring nav 7. #6 + Nismo S-tune exhaust 8. 370z roadster 9. 370z roadster sport 10. 370z roadster sport + nav |
