Car Buying Scenario Thread

Ok guys I will try to keep this short and sweet. Imagine. You currently do not own any cars, and you can get any car you want new/used thats under 50k. Once you get the car you have another 10k to put into the car as mods/ or to buy another car or bike. But you can not add the 10k into the 50k to say buy a 60k car. Type away...

Used Z06 + 10k on mods

Brazilbro 02-13-2012 01:35 AM

Cayman S , with 10k for stage 2 turbo kit

brand spanking new 2013 boss 302 LS... 10K will go to weight reduction, suspension, full exhaust including long tube headers, tune, a set of track wheels and tires.

Used GT-R. Forget the mod fund :D

You can get a ton of Corvette or used P car for that amount. I respect the snot out of the Vette but its just not my cup of tea (I don't long nose cars...Z is the longest nose I have owned).

New Mustang Boss 302 + ~10K in the bank and ~ 5K set away for tires perhaps. You can run the **** out of it day after day without worry. The 444hp 5.0l is the same engine in the 302R race car. It's about as close to a race car without actually being a race car as a production car gets yet its perfectly fine as a daily driver. I personally wouldn't bother modifying anything other than perhaps the tires when it comes time to change.

Wouldn't bother with a GT-R because sure you may be able to snatch one up for 50K used but you better have a lot of money set aside to maintain the thing. The GT-R is every bit as expensive to maintain as the typical 200K+ exotic.

The transmission alone is like 20K. Insurance cost is probably on the high end as well. Basically the cost to own will be far higher than the typical 50K car and for that matter the typical 100K car.

Being able to "buy" something and being able to "afford" something are two totally different things. But even if you could actually "afford" a used GT-R I wouldn't because their are better choices IMO unless you're concerned with test track numbers / attention from the too fast too furious crowd above all else.

Oh a new Porsche Boxster (base) or CPO Porsche Cayman S would be a good choice as well if you value the actual act of driving above all else as I do. Or maybe a CPO E90/92 M3 if you could find one..

Honestly this is what i'm thinking best. Except maybe 3k out of the 10k be spent on a matte black wrap. Then the rest on strippers and blow:ugh2:

Alright just typed out a long unnecessary reply but basically used cts-v or new S4? I have a feeling I would mod the V with a wrap and wheels but probably not too much on the performance end. The S4 however I would probably spend my money on a secondary car to DD most days. So idk, which would you pick? Oh and don't want a vette because it would be my only car and I couldn't deal with that bad of an interior in my only car. Even though for anyone looking, plenty of 06-07 Z06's turbocharged with meth and all going for sub 45k.:stirthepot:

Ferrari 355 spyder and a cheap truck and trailer to haul it back and forth to the dealer.

how used would the CTS-V be? I love both the S4 and CTS-V but I wouldn't take the CTS-V with more than 15K miles on it over a new S4. my :twocents:

Really you can't go wrong with any of these suggestions. I'd probably do a slightly used Z, FI, and the remainder on blow and hookers.

used gtr
