Tri-Turbo DIESEL BMW M Cars coming

Just like the thread title says, BMW is apparently doing M-badge diesel cars. Here's a link to the Top Gear article:

BMW M Cars get tri-turbo diesel - BBC Top Gear

Any of these would be great dd's out here in CO, but not sure what I think about putting ///M and "diesel" together. Discuss.

I'm glad BMW is making true performance diesels. The 520d just has too small of an engine.

Audi made the Q7 V12 tdi not long ago, too...

Diesel and hybrid are the wave of the future.

Mitsubishi announced that the 2014 Evo will be diesel hybrid and performance compared to today's care will either equal or be better.

Definitely a sign of the times. I'm interested to see how BMW will badge those vehicles here in the US. In the UK, for instance, the 335i with the M Sport package is badged the 335i M Sport, but that's not the case here. Personally, I'd love the 5 Series Touring with that engine in awd for ski/mtb trips to the mountains!

Do we even know if these are coming to the US? They might be only for Europe.

-b1ades, good point. No guarantee they will come here, but I have a feeling that they might in some capacity. Diesels still don't do as well here as they do in Europe, so availability might be limited to big markets/ special order, but if I had the means, I would have to consider it. Overtaking on the freeway would be a breeze in a car like that, I'd get better mileage than I do in my S4, and would definitely appreciate the jump in amenities for my commute/skiing & mtb'ing trips.

I forseen if before and now they came up with the diesel for performance vehicles, which is wide changing just as fast as recent strides have been made and been turned into diesel to the US market. Only then the problem is that there is a high cost of producing low-volume diesel engines. :driving:

Nice one. Diesel and hybrid cars are in demand so go for it.
