I think I'm in love.

Looks like base price and Z51 package got a price increase. That sucks for me I have been building different versions on the site the last few days and planned on placing an order by the end of the year. Now I may just settle for a used one close to what I wanted.

Base increase plus Z51 Makes its a 6800 increase!

increase? the one that got dropped off at the local dealership seemed to be cheaper.

no Z51 pack but the price was only like 66k on a 3LT with a bunch of options.

It's a GM. Give it a year to let the hardcore "Vette Guys" get theirs, and then every dealer will be willing to sell one to you under invoice.

It's got a lot of new hardware onboard. GM is one of the few companies that makes significant mechanical improvements nearly every year of production. Even if price is no object, let 1-2 YM's go by if you can, and see what breaks/gets fixed/gets an update. Also, get an insider you can TRUST. GM's updates are often not made public. Even some engineers don't know about them. They just...happen. I remember when I owned a Z06 and reported my cruising temps were 195*F oil-temp. Everyone freaked as 150-170 is the norm due to the massive plate cooler up front. But then...I looked and saw NO oil-cooler. An engineer on the forum did some digging, and the Z06's got ZR1 cooling systems (liquid/liquid) for 2011+. This was, to me, a MAJOR change that went complete un-noted and un-advertised. Also the carbon-fiber lined syncro upgrade. It made shifting in freezing temps very smooth and pleasant even in the first few shifts after a cold start.

Anyway, this is a very new driveline even though it uses tried and true basis. Give GM a year or two to see what they tweak. The C5 got a ton of tweaks in a couple of years, and so did the C6. I doubt the C7 is any different. The C6 had major improvements nearly every year it was made.

Oh hell yes. Let them work out all of the "new model quirks". Let the early adopters take it in the ***, not you.

Exactly. Like I did with my 2012 370Z. I had 99 problems...but oil temp wasn't one! :rofl2:

Seriously, the first YM from GM usually isn't the one you want. Same for most companies, but especially the Corvette. They really do improve it on YM2-3 out.

travisjb 03-04-2014 07:28 PM

oh thanks, rub it in lol

seriously eyeing the new z06/7... both neighbors across the streets put deposits down, not sure I can sit this one out

Mr&Mrs 03-04-2014 07:39 PM

That is a bit out of my price range. I just rebuilt one on Chevys site for a couple grand more by ditching upgrades I don't really need. So I'm still excited to order one once I get my down payment saved up.

This would probably be my only hope of getting one. It's either that or maybe the new 5.0 for my next car.

Very curious to see #'s from the new 5.0, but in no way will it compete from a performance standpoint. They remain separate vehicles.

UNKNOWN_370 03-05-2014 01:13 AM

:excited: I'm all over this Z06 with the Z07 pkg. I wasn't a huge fan of the stingray but the color scheme on the Z06 Changed that. :driving:
Right now I can't drive due to severe neuropathy asan after-effect of chemotherapy. That's y I hsvent posted much the past 6 months. But when the neuropathy where's off? I'm hoping I wil be hopping into a z06 or some type of grand sport type deal...v depending?;)

I know that, but for me it will come down to cost. If I can get a C7 in my price range it would be my top choice. If not, then I will probably settle with the 5.0, depending on the final numbers.

DO you have to buy IMMEDIATELY? I'd wait and pick up a lightly used C7 mayhap. There just won't be any comparison.
