wait, i don't understand it. You mean he never actually drained the old oil? but there are ramps in the pic. what's their purpose if he didn't lift the car up? how can he forget to drain the old oil out?

I actually did this recently. My girlfriend brought over her Corolla for me to change the oil on it. I was in a hurry and not paying enough attention, and her engine oil and trans fluid both have similar drain plugs underneath, just in different spots.

Drained the ATF into the drain pan, and even thought to myself, "wow, that oil sure looks clean for how many miles it has, kinda reddish too, what brand did they put in here?". When the flow had mostly subsided, then I went to pull off the oil filter. Of course it gushed out a very different-looking oil at a much higher volume than I expected, and then everything clicked in my brain and I got it all sorted out and refilled properly :)

He did. What happened was he forgot to take the plug out of the plastic drain pan he had underneath it. When he pulled the drain plug it overflowed within seconds and spilled all over the garage. It was a successful oil change, albeit half-assed. His methods should never be taught.

Also, he invites all of you to his garage to get a "real man's oil change", on the house!

Oh I see. Why would he get those crappy pans anyway? Used to have one of them, but the collection funnel was too narrow and tended to splash. Got one of these instead and never regretted it:
