Wife's new toy

First of all, get your minds out of the gutter. We went shopping for a crossover/mid-size SUV. We started out at Carmax, had our trade-in appraised and looked at Yukons, Tahoes and Escalades (I know, all the same car lol). We didn't see any used cars that we thought were in good enough condition on the lot (we may be a little picky, though). Next, we went to a GMC dealer to look at new ones and some test drives. We left GMC empty handed, because I didn't feel like we explored enough options, and went down to an Infiniti dealer. As soon as we stepped into the showroom, my wife fell in love. On display, next to the bright red G37 vert and the M56 was a 2012 FX35 AWD Ltd edition. Needless to say, Kris was just going through the motions with the test drive. I knew from the look on her face she made up her mind at the door. I think you guys know what happened after that.

I took these pics really quick so they're not that good.

Nice car! My wife just got a new ride this weekend too! Nissan Armada lol.

Vertigo 01-16-2012 12:33 AM

Nice Infiniti.
Better than the dildo I expected to see when I looked at the subject line.

nmjaxx9 01-16-2012 12:34 AM

This is the first FX I've driven and I'm no expert, but I give this one two thumbs way up. I think it strikes a good balance between performance and utility. And I don't mean to plug, but buying a vehicle should always be as easy and relaxed as my experience with the FX. No pressure, super friendly staff and all around chill atmosphere.

Yeah you hit it right on the money.

I used to carpool with someone who had an FX35 AWD and loved being in that thing. It has the performance of a Z but the utility of a truck. I only wished it had better gas mileage but I guess it's a trade off between performance.

Red__Zed 01-16-2012 06:27 AM

The fx is a great ride, congrats!

370ZilverZ 01-16-2012 06:58 AM

Great choice. When you have to have utility, it's nice to have some performance too.

djpathfinder 01-16-2012 10:10 AM

Congrats! I still have my 2005 FX45...still rock solid and like it a lot.

Vertigo 01-16-2012 12:57 PM

Nice color as well. I wouldn't mind seeing a 370 in that shade of blue.

kenchan 01-16-2012 01:52 PM

congrats!

I have a feeling I'm going to be enjoying this one for a long time too... My wife is hogging all the seat time right now lol.

It would be interesting to see. It would need some dark rims to make it look right, though.

MC 01-16-2012 03:35 PM

cool!

my mom just got one of these friday... her lease was up on her 09 FX35 so she just upgraded to a loaded 2012 FX35 AWD... i like the redesigned front end better than her previous one. the grill is better and the fog lamps stand out more... the interior is pretty similar the nav is upgraded and the gauges are different , i think thats it

i like the darker wheels on the limited edition better but she didnt want blue and thats the only color is comes in.. so this one is black with the bright silver 20"s

only thing i hate the about the trim she got is that maple colored wood grain finish... it has an option for a gloss black that i think looks similar to the limited edition but if you add on the higher end technology and comfort packages it replaces it with the wood color automatically

Love the color

MC, I didn't even have time to look into the other packages. When Kris saw that car, she basically let me know that she couldn't care less what I wanted lol. Seriously speaking, I thought about sacrificing the cool paint and wheels for the tech and sport package, but the more the sales person showed me those features, the more I thought to myself I will never use this stuff. To be honest the CDC would have been super cool, but I loved the way it handled as is. I found the features in the tech package to be a tad intrusive (I'm not keen on my car driving me), but I can see why a lot of people would love to have it. Besides, I think I got the one feature out of it that is truly useful for me, which is the adaptive lighting system. After it was all said and done, I'm pretty satisfied with what we got... Now if only I could convince the wife the take the Z to work and let me have the FX (probably not going to happen).

Aww man, I thought I was special. Thanks for stealing my thunder lol.

Isamu 01-16-2012 11:54 PM

not to shabby! I am digging that blue!

Dallaz 01-17-2012 12:04 AM

That looks like the new 2012 color for the GTR. If I could afford any SUV, I'd say the only one id pick over these fx35's are the brand new Rovers. Very nice ride! Congratulations

yeah the lane departure beep drives me crazy... but my mom likes it...so on the rare occasions im riding with her its like beep beep every 30 secs lol...

i only tried the laser guided cruise control once but i dont trust it.. its supposed to slow you down if you come up on a car too fast with the cruise on... i tested it out to the max and i got closer to the back of a transfer truck than i would have liked before it slowed down....

but yeah awesome ride... its really the only sports SUV that i like out there.... most are too soccer mom for me..

there was supposed to be a sebastian vettel one but i dont think its coming to the US... it was really cool had like carbon fiber lower aero kit
