b1adesofcha0s 09-12-2012 08:22 AM

I hope they make it more exotic looking :yum:

i wouldn't expect that until the R36 and even then, i hope they keep up the function-begets-form mantra the R35 has.

Yeah I'm not expecting it either, but it would still be awesome. You can have function while still having an exotic look though, like the MP4-12C.

I think it doesn't have to be one or the other. The designers need to be let loose on the next GT-R. The R35 still had one foot in the legacy design and it shows...some for the better...but some for the worst. A lot of people still see a big sedan with two less doors instead of a bonafide supercar. It needs to be a little bit more grown up, but more viceral in terms of delivering the performance. It needs to have all the high tech wizardry without being robotic.

the mp4-12c doesn't look exotic to me, other than the way the doors open. the 458 is definitely form and function tho

i think the main problem is it's going to be hard to make a 4 seat coupe that's front engine/AWD that doesn't look like a mustang/camaro or even G coupe. hopefully the next one is a bit more curvy but i kinda like it the way it is now :yum:

I haven't seen one in person, but it looks way more exotic than the GT-R does. How about some mid-engine goodness for the GT-R (which I know will never happen) :yum:

yea, not gonna happen. the GTR will probably always be F/AWD layout, tho i'm pretty sure, the R36 will become at least a mild hybrid using some form of KERS system. the 918 and the enzo replacement are going that direction, i'm sure nissan's working on it. KERS is amazing tech. imagine being able to run down to the shop on 200hp battery power only, then slam the throttle, wake up a 600ish hp TT v6 and blow some vette's away. that's just epic

Cmike2780 09-12-2012 09:11 AM

If Nissan does go mid-engine, it's probably going to be an Infiniti, like the emerg-e concept. I can't see the GT-R ever going mid-engine any more than the Z.

for this years Ring time or next years face lift?

HKYStormFront 09-12-2012 10:36 AM

for the changes this year? another power bump perhaps? obviously looks like there's at least going to be a new interior package available (looks sorta LFA-ish with the red on the steering wheel). saw the new cooler in front of the intercoolers... any other guesses?

i think its going to be incremental like how the 13 was.. the info is a bit confusing to sift through this year as its mixed with next years info so when you have our market and then everyone else who is one year behind its sort of hard to decipher MY13 vs MY14 (which would be 14 and 15 for us)

i dont know the exact HP bump yet but they are going to be trying a ring lap this week so they have made some changes in order to attempt a new time.

we might be getting a US version of the track pack finally.

that was a power steering cooler in that one pic.. im not sure what happened to it in the newer pics..unless its that metal object sticking out from behind the cross beam

b1adesofcha0s 09-12-2012 10:57 AM

So what do you think for the lap time? I think it's gonna be under 7:20 if they can get decent weather conditions.

ZKraken22 09-12-2012 12:06 PM

Giving the GTR changes every year is gonna make GTR buyers upset and maybe hurt sales! "waiting" for the better GTR. Gosh with all the face lift stuff all its doing is pushing the price way up. started at 80K and now 100K i dont think the GTR can sale past 100K unless the horsepower is 600. I'm happy to hear that the interior is getting a new look to maybe something like Egoist. non the less im excited. plus were supposed to get the a Nismo GTR! i think 2014 Z and GTR are gonna be nice
