Also you can't tune a 911 and end up with a billion hp. You can with a GT-R. |

You know I always wonder if when the R34s become legal how big they will be. we will prolly be on the R39 hybrid by then. |
And the GTR backseats are better

No kidding. I bought my GTR the day after I testdrove one. Don't ever test drive one if you are not ready to buy! LOL

I know what you mean, this is a battle between practicality and gluttonous desire! Guess which one is winning at the moment? I didn't realize how hard they are to find, no 2012 models to be found. Which begs the question of used vs. new. |

MC - what were some of the noticeable differences between the '09 and '12? I thought the tranny in the automatic mode in the '09 was a bit choppy, kind of like the SMG in the M5. In manual mode, the shifts were lighting fast. Thanks, V |
most GTR guys never ever use auto mode as the way its designed its always searching for the highest gear you can be going 35 mph and it will shift all the way to 6th... unless you are performance driving
also the transmission responds to how you drive... if you are just running errands around town some of the shifts can be quite sluggish... but once you start accelerating and braking in a spirited manner it will start shifting fast and rev matching and all that.... the only time i ever use auto mode is at the drag strip to lay down consistent times because as long as its in R mode and you have the gas floored it does lighting fast 6800 rpm shifts that you really cant beat manaully...... but thats about the extent of it... it sucks for autoX and is so so at the track imo as far as has that aspect changed for 12 vs the 09.... not really the only noticeable difference is how it responds to a 2-1 shift at parking speeds... before it wouldnt go into 1st until you were almost at a dead stop then jerk down to 1st... now it automatically shifts to first while you are still creeping forward... but over all the 12 is so just comprehensively better in all aspects than my 09.... the 13 is adding about 30 hp and better suspension |

Thank you for making me spend an additional $35,000-50,000. |

It makes sense to hold out for a newer model, unfortunately anything from '10 -'12 has a steep price due to limited availability. Pricing may go down on those models when the '13 comes out, if not, decisions, decisions. |

My Big Mistake - Part 11. I went to a Nissan dealership after the MAZOC meet up today to see the 2012 GT-R Premium listed on their website, unfortunately when I got there it was a Black Edition, not a fan of the BE wheels. I went back to the previous dealership and test drove the 2009 GT-R, only this time in the R mode and the beast was free to roam at full power.
This is definitely the vehicle for me, I will be putting up the my baby of 6 months for sale sometime this week. Still undecided on what model year, I am on the list for the 2013, if I get a bead on a low mileage '10 - '12, I may jump on it, looking for Gun Metal Grey or Black. 'Tis the Season! |
Go for it!!!
|
Congrats man! Can't wait to see it once you do get it
|
Awwww yea!!
I knew it man. After how you were talking about it at the meet and the phone calls you were making I knew it was game over. Can't wait to see the GTR at one of our meets! |

There was an awesome black GT-R with black wheels at the dealership I bought my Z at (Modern Nissan of Lake Norman). I asked if I got a free test drive in it for purchasing the Z. The guy laughed at me and said I'd have to put a $10,000 deposit down before taking it out. That normal?

was it just like this? http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/7773/img09381280.jpg no thats not the normal practice but i see the reasoning... was he serious about the 10K deposit? most dealers dont do test drives on brand new GTRs at all... the deposit thing is sort of stupid... they should just say we dont offer test drives... i know they are trying to weed out the non serious buyers but putting a financial # on it is just off putting to me and makes me think they are playing games or calling someones bluff... i paid cash for my car but i wouldnt put down a dime to test drive a car just to prove something... either i can or i cant.. if i cant i respect that besides....if i was a dealer i wouldnt do test drives on brand new new GTRs at all.... most come with about exactly 22-26 miles on them i wouldnt want to buy one with 50+ miles on it or whatever.. not just because i think they beat on it..its just if im paying 95-100K for a car i want to be the first one to drive it.. i want the plastic on the seats floor mats still in the trunk and all that i mean before my car came i test drove one of the 2012's i helped a out of state member get...but it technically wasnt a test drive i just drove the car with the tech to gas it up after the PDI before they put it on a car hauler lol a used one like the OP is talking about? sure what was the price on it by the way? just curious as i went up to modern of winston-salem NC where i live. they had the same 2012 black edition ( but blue) i bought for under invoice marked up 8K over MSRP ( something like 105K) they told one of my forum members they turned down 5K over for it........not sure if its still there... i had 2 guys wanting to but it for MSRP but they wouldnt go for it |
