2) Those are really old and at the height of street racing from the early 90's. They stopped doing that a long time ago. Most of those cars were impounded because they had JDM engines that never passed emissions and when they were found they were crushed.

Find me the info that backs up this video and I will believe it. :stirthepot:

this video is of a crush car. it's pretty old.

i've heard of cars being crushed recently in cali though.

My buddy is a lawyer, he was the one who originally questioned the video so I have been trying to find the info on it.

I can't find shiza!

the manufacturers are obligated to crush them in these situations...

That makes sense now, good investigation work.

Now someone needs to correct every forum this vid is on because it is now debunked :icon17:

That makes sense but how were you able to come to that conclusion?

i read the article (i think on jalopnik) back when it was crushed...I think several years ago.

GZ3 10-24-2011 11:23 AM

so if it gets seized, and you still owe on it, and it gets crushed, what?

thats pretty insane

Then you still need to pay it off.

At least they are alive.

There was an incident a couple years ago where two fine gentlemen decided to street race straight through the middle of town next to the college (so very busy section with cars and lots of pedestrians). A third car with a group of four people pulled out from the Taco Bell about a half mile from the racers. Problem was, the racers were up to speed and one of them plowed straight into the third car. If memory serves, all but 1 died from the third car. Can't remember if the racer lived.

There was another incident about a yearish before that where again, two people were lined up a light for a little street racing. This time next to the Wal-Mart. The spot is "ideal" for this type of thing because the street goes from two lanes to one lane about a quarter mile down the road. So, light turns green and they take off. As one of them crosses through the intersection they are speared by an old lady running the red light. The kids car is all but cleaved in half. The kid is dead.

So while those fines, jail sentences, and having to pay for multiple vehicles is pretty steep. At least they get the chance too. Others are not so lucky.

yeah thats true...

its crazy that DWI or DUI punishment isnt even that aggressive and am sure are resposible for more deaths/collateral damage a year

Spikuh 10-24-2011 01:25 PM

I agree 100%. Our set of laws can be pretty screwy.

Flushnismo 10-24-2011 01:56 PM

What a waste of a beautiful machine... seriously. Should have cut one of his fingers off or something. That'll teach em. lol

Waiz 10-24-2011 03:22 PM

Guys re-read Zed's post, it debunks this video.
