Check your local Craigslist there should be plenty of vehicles around or under 5k, maybe a GTI, or subaru outback since you live in new england and need that AWD

Where the hell did you see 2002 wrx for $5000? Even the crappy salvaged title ones I see are at least $7000.

IMO, if cost is a factor at all, then check out insurance rates first. The WRX and Civic Si rates are usually pretty high.

I really doubt you'll find a WRX or Si for under 5k unless it's falling apart....

How about a Miata? They are fun and I hear the doors are made of adamantium.

for commuting, I'd get an EK Civic. Easily see 40mpg on the highway if you keep your foot out of it. Should be able to find a clean example for $2-4k.

dudesky 10-02-2011 09:44 AM

Thanks guys. yea i was also looking at Miata too. and some of WRX 2002 are around $5000 but they have really really high mileges and had a lot of owners and some issues found. and nmjaxx9! I live in New Jersey! haha

dudesky 10-02-2011 11:16 AM

oh yea and what about Scion TC guys? I see that price is not that bad

nmjaxx9 10-02-2011 12:00 PM

^^ I don't think a scion would be in your price range, and im suprised no one caught that, but im expecting winters to be as severe in nj as up here in ct, so why not look into a 4x4 or awd if you are gonna be using during the winter? and also are you trying to buy from a used car lot or private seller?

dudesky 10-02-2011 12:06 PM

ummm actually as long as I find a good one, I don't really care if it is from car lot or a private seller :) Scion TC with kind of high mileges and mint condition and about 2005, I can get it for about $6000~7000 I think. Yes and I need AWD T^T seems I can't find any AWD except Evo or WRX. any more suggestion?? Thanks

nmjaxx9 10-02-2011 12:26 PM

Ok did some research real quick:

Couldn't find one for 6-7 although if you wanna spend around 8k i found this one 2005 Scion tC, $7,799 - Cars.com

and if you arent particular on manual there are some outbacks on CL AWD found this one for 5200--->2004 Subaru Outback AWD

nmjaxx9 10-02-2011 12:29 PM

both are automatic, my suggestion is go to a used lot dealer browse their inventory, and keep checking CL you should find something, now that you are flexible on the price and arent looking for something only 5000 then you should be able to find something, some other suggestions maybe a, corolla, camry, they are always reliable and good on gas.

dudesky 10-02-2011 12:38 PM

thanks bro. I'm trying to buy a manual car because I can't drive automatic anymore and my greatest regret buying auto Z :) haha yea and mainly, I gotta drive to school during the winter so my Z is NO USE :( ummm I still got some time til next year Feb, so I will keep look for it. Thanks anyway man. really appreciated!
