I seek to maximize the fun/$ ratio.

Example: Why pay $500/hr for a high dollar hooker when I could get shado all night for just one pumpkin spice latte?

:iagree:

Just because you can afford a $100,000 car doesn't mean that's all you're going to look at. Enthusiasts don't discriminate based on price... they are looking for fun.

If I've got $100k to blow on a car and stumble across one for $25k that is fun as heck to drive, I'm probably going to buy it.

I love my Z but I would have to say a GTR or a Viper is alot more fun then a Z. Dont get me wrong if I was rich I would probably still have a Z along with something crazy just because I love the Z and its a great car. People dont cross shop cars like that, when is the last time you talked to someone who was stuck between a Merc C63 AMG and a Taurus SHO?

You'd be surprised about the fun factor; the GTR is fast and grips like hell, but the Z feels more nimble and the driver feels more involved. To me, the Z was way more fun than the GTR.

Viper, I don't know. It's almost got too much power for the street; on track it'd be a ball, though.

Someone looking at a Merc C63 AMG is usually after performance with status, so you're right, they aren't going to cross shop with a SHO.

But when you're talking sports cars, enthusiast shoppers care more about fun than anything else.

Actually, I could see someone cross shopping a Merc and a Taurus. If it's someone who can afford both, maybe they consider saving a ton of money.

Anyway, when I shopped, I cross-shopped sports cars and hot hatches. That's not always intuitive. The first time I bought, I cross-shopped sports cars, hatches, and sedans.

No matter what you do, your house expands to be the most expensive thing you can afford.

Finally got the budget under control...let's put a little crack in the foundation:shakes head:

I'll probably never own a Mustang, though, because I'd hate to downgrade from my Z in terms of performance.
