I ended up getting the gun metallic and yea the Cayman was just too small. It was not a good DD for what I need right now. I just have the cobb accesport tune.

yeah, very annoying. if your shoes are even slightly damp it's ridiculous....
if you run across any good pedals let me know.

Like that color a lot too...reminds me of my 40th Anniv. Pictures? :pics:

CrownR426 10-12-2011 01:14 AM

i would trade it in!

bacalhau16 10-12-2011 08:02 AM

Just picked up a 2011 WRX hatch. I noticed the pedals being too slippery almost right away. Figured I just got oil on them from walking around in the dealership parking lot for a while. Guess not.

Red__Zed 10-12-2011 08:06 AM

I lightly scuffed mine with some sandpaper and it helped a bit.

djpathfinder 10-12-2011 10:21 AM

I suppose you could also place some non-slip adhesive strips (the ones they use on exterior stairs), or find some aftermarket stainless steel pedals that have rubber protruding out of the holes.

phelan 10-12-2011 11:14 AM

SPR Racing metal pedals seem to be popular. Another albeit considered low grade is to tape it up with skateboard grip tape. I'm thinking of doing that.

kenchan 10-13-2011 03:42 PM

interesting info... yah, i think those tapes will work great but might be too grippy...(?)

i'd do the aftermarket pedals too. :)

djpathfinder 10-13-2011 09:26 PM

My brakes are really squeaky just as I'm coming to a stop. Started noticing this after I washed the car three days ago. Doesn't seem to change even after a few applications of the brakes...have you guys noticed this too?

phelan 10-13-2011 11:31 PM

^ not mine....

Red__Zed 10-13-2011 11:34 PM

Me neither. Maybe check your pads?

djpathfinder 10-14-2011 12:18 AM

Do WRX and STi have the same Brembo(?) brakes? I've heard Brembo brakes can be noisy in different makes and models. Perhaps I need to put some high temp grease on the backs of the brake pads.

nuTinmuch 10-14-2011 03:24 AM

Only the STi has the Brembos.

kenchan 10-14-2011 01:21 PM

yah the stock pads on my G35C's brembo's were very squeeeeky at low speed/light brake application. Endless pads + BrakeQuiet fixed it permanently. :p

i'd remove the pads and put some brakequiet on there for starters.... if that fails, try other pads (or get it replaced under warranty).

this paint is SH*T.

What happened?

phelan 10-22-2011 09:07 PM

nothing, just another day of typical daily driver ownership. i need to claybar already to get a bunch of trapped dirt out of the paint.

and i got a rock chip on the front that punched two pieces of paint off. meh.

i'm going to clearbra it this upcoming weekend and protect it from any further damage.

i might swing by a dealership and grab some touchup paint.

djpathfinder 10-22-2011 09:17 PM

Always a good idea. I went 24" up the hood to include the hood scoop and quarter panels, full front bumper, and mirrors.

phelan 10-23-2011 01:50 AM

the hood scoop gets absolutely battered in normal driving. i can't wait to get the car CB'd next week. even though it has a few issues already at least it won't get any worse.

bacalhau16 10-23-2011 01:57 PM

The paint isnt nearly as the paint was on my 370z. My mirror on my Z scratched the first day of ownership. I've taken my WRX offroading in a sandpit twice and the paint still looks new

i think some of it may be color dependent. my ss is pretty solid, about halfway between the z and the mustang.

6MT 10-23-2011 02:01 PM

I think the STI is a great car except for one thing.....it's UGLY!.

djpathfinder 10-23-2011 05:43 PM

Haters will hate. :roflpuke2:

6MT 10-23-2011 08:56 PM

Cool story bro.

6MT 10-24-2011 09:06 AM

Thanks for the 100% agreement...:bowrofl:

NewlyIMPORTed 10-24-2011 10:26 AM

my paint is pretty strong. I love the car besides the fact that the rear sags. Red_Zed what how do you like the wrx compared to your mustang?

I'll take this with a grain of salt, as you have that monstrosity in your signature. :p

phelan 10-24-2011 01:17 PM

:roflpuke2:

i think i just got hit with a humongous rock. there's a lot of roadwork around my area so one probably took a good swipe at my car. i just need to grab me some touchup paint and it'll be fine.

I'll do a write up one of these days.... I like my subie, but the mustang revolutionized what I expect from cars in the 25-40k price bracket.

I need awd though, and if you need it, the subie is a no-brainer

I know it's not your car! I'm just don't understand why anyone would want that thing in their signature at all. :p

djpathfinder 10-26-2011 02:58 PM

Phelan, just a few pics to show you what the functional shark fin antenna looks like installed on my sedan.

Of course, this was the original antenna.

Yours might have a different base. Visual Garage has a second version that is meant to incorporate the sat radio antenna and that should fit you. Contact them through their website if you're interested and ask them about it.

I replaced my Z with a 2011 STi sedan (spark silver) back in June. All I've done is added a front strut-brace and Cobb Stage 1 running the 93-octane map (I fill with 94). It's plenty quick for my DD needs, although I would like to do the downpipe and CBE at some point. Already have my winter wheels with Blizzak LM-60s ready to go. I miss my Z, but there's no way I could use it as my DD during the winters in Canada (I moved here from Georgia, where the Z was perfect).
