2011 mazda 2

Thinking bout getting one for dd. $15k not bad. Anyone have one of these?

Waiz 05-12-2011 06:51 PM

I see these all the time, they are tiny!

How about a Fiesta or a Fit instead?

AlphaSnacks 05-12-2011 08:00 PM

The Mazda and Fiesta are very similar cars. They're built on the same platform and even share numerous resemblances.

Nismoracer 05-13-2011 12:20 AM

Considered both. Honda fit may be a fine car but it is ugly. The fiesta is cool but neither costs the same as advertised. A fiesta hatchback I looked at was$ 23k and that wasn't even top of the line. Read all the reviews and they all say the mazda 2 is fun to drive. But they also say its slow and underpowered. Going to test drive one but you can only get so much from a test drive. Wanted to hear from ppl who may have had one and for awhile. Why do ego boxes have to look so girly.:driving:

how about the new focus ST that'll be out this year? Ecoboosted 2.0 engine, making 247hp and 260ft/lbs, that oughta be a fun little tuner.

Red370 05-13-2011 10:17 AM

read up on it.

I'm seriously considering buying one of these, although it'll all come down to price point.

m4a1mustang 05-13-2011 10:21 AM

I would be more inclined to step up in size and go for something like a Mazda 3, Elantra, or Focus. You get more space/utility without sacrificing much fuel economy at all.

Theres talk of an AWD version, wouldnt be a bad daily driver at all! the Focus line runs cheap, cheapest of the Ford line actually, i'm thinking one could be had for 15k or below, brand new.

m4a1mustang 05-13-2011 10:37 AM

Focus ST would be a nice DD but I doubt it will be that cheap. You can get a base Focus for less than that but I would think an optioned ST would run $20k+.

I'm ok with mid-20's, like MS3 range. My fear is that it'll come in around the Golf R's rumored tag around 35k. I'm not buying a Focus that's more expensive than a Z/Mustang. :bowrofl:

Red370 05-13-2011 10:39 AM

I never do optioned, leather is hot, dont bluetooth, daily driver doesnt need fancy styling or brakes, 15k for a base would do just fine for me.

I doubt they would do that. I could see them charging that much for a really souped up version of the ST, though.

I'm talking about the ST, though. The regular putt-putt focus ain't bad, but I'd like the ST.

I also wonder if the high-power engine will make it suck gas like the MS3, which is a bit of a guzzler for a 4-banger.

Lug 05-13-2011 11:55 AM

If it comes in at about 250 hp, under 3000 lbs. and under 24k, it will be a good deal.

I think the Honda Fit looks awesome. It looks nothing like anything else on the road too. Plus the practicality of that car is great. Anyways, check out the new redesigned Nissan Versa that's coming out in a couple of months. It looks much better than the current one.

+1 out of the current offerings in the US in that price range the current FitSport looks the best and has most utility imo...but i think it also costs the most.

only thing lacking is more hp, LSD, and 6MT. the Fit's are currently 5MT...

Nismoracer 05-18-2011 11:01 PM

Keeping the mazda 2 in mind...it may be the cheapest at around$ 15k. Waiting on the versa....the new one does look better and versas run cheap too.
