Except it's more refined and comfortable then the G37
and faster :happydance:

You'll get no argument there. I'm just saying, the Z's seats are not competing with 335 seats. Maybe closer to Z4 seats, but even that is a stretch. Maybe closer to GenCoupe or RX8 seats.

I moved on and tested the 5.0 and 335is - the 335is is a beast. Great performance numbers (0-60 4.7 sec) and the exhaust note is heaven, it's what the stock Z should sound like.
It gets pricey with options, and reliability could be sketchy, but it's a really nice fun and comfortable car!

So its as fast as a 370 but thousands more.

yes - but due to past back operations I need to buy something that I can actually be comfortable in when driving, and the Z just beat me up too bad.

I still love the car and wish it was for me, but that's life...

ZYGOTE 05-13-2011 04:00 PM

Thanks for all the advice so far guys. I went back and test drove both cars again and I thin I'm gonna go with the 335is. I love the V8 in the Mustang, but the fit and finish just isn't there and I'm not sure that I will be able to live with the overly plastic interior on a daily basis. The 335is is the polar opposite in that respect, fit and finish is top notch and it feels much more refined. And honestly, if I didn't know better, I would say that it is just as fast, as it really performs amazingly.

CATCHINZZZS 05-13-2011 04:23 PM

Either car is nice i was lookin into the 5.0 myself, but if its room your lookin for the sedan is better this car moves. heres a pic of my 335 b4 i got my Z reason i got rid of it someone ran red light and broad sided me hard Dam i miss her she had many mods.

agreed, that is a sharp looking beemer.

PapoZalsa 05-13-2011 08:55 PM

Hands down BMW!

OtaconZ 05-15-2011 10:23 AM

335is, no question. While the engine is great, the fit and finish on the Mustang is well below the Z and even further behind the BM.

blinkme323 06-10-2011 02:43 AM

Can't go wrong either way, but I would lean towards the 335is - great performance and you don't see many around.

Since the OP is talking about the 335iS in this thread and not the regular 335i, yes I'm serious. BMW supposedly only produced 5000 of the 335is and it's only been around for the one model year.

:ugh2: I've owned both. This is a false statement.

My words may have come across wrong. I've owned both a 370z and a 335i and I've test driven two 2011 Mustang's with the premium package. While the new Mustang's interior is leaps and bounds better than the the 2005-2009 models, it still 3rd among those three cars. There are still quite a few low rent plastics and odd ergonomic features that you just don't see in the BMW or the 370. That's not to take anything away from the Mustang either, it's an awesome machine, but this isn't one of it's strong points IMO.

I disagree. When I test drove the Mustang I wasn't really impressed. It isn't bad, but I didn't think it was better than my Z. I thought it was on par with the Corvette, minus the steering wheel, which was better in the Mustang.

He might be one of those that buy a car and cannot afford the car payments. Around here I have seen a bunch of the new Camaros delivering pizza.

Yet to see a Mustang 2011....

Got a ride in Steve's Mustang today and it was awesome! :D

I got to drive it at zdayz

Ridgerunner 06-11-2011 08:02 PM

I had a Mustang GT the first 6 years of my son's life. If you are alone with the kid, it is hell when they are real small leaning back there to buckle them up or pull them out of there. Unless your wife is under 5'2", she won't want to ride back there with him if all three of you are going somewhere together. My wife's car is a Maxima, when the kid went somewhere, 99% of the time he was in it.

Go for the BMW, unless you can convince the wife to drive a four door so you can keep the Z.

Just took delivery of a Crimson Red 335is coupe, I'll try and get some pics up soon. Thanks for all of the advice, it was much appreciated.

ZYGOTE 06-21-2011 04:28 PM

Loving the car so far, here is a pic:

ZYGOTE 06-21-2011 04:36 PM

Sorry...should be fixed now.

$460 for a plug n play tune and your 335is will blow the doors off a 5.0 and an m3. The 2011 335is still has the n54 engine instead of the n55 in the 2011 regular 335i... so it can still be easily tuned for tons of power.

but, call me bias haha

N54 - isn't that the one with the high-pressure fuel pump issues? Bmw Law Suit Hpfp

I would have to disagree completely. Just traded off my 335xi coupe on Corvette - iDrive is horrible, wheels are fragile (blew tire & bent wheel on mod-sized pothole that 'stang laughs at), accessing rear can be a pain as you need to motor the seat fore/back using power seat & fuel mileage is WORSE then my 2008 Mustang Bullitt. BMW had prettier interior, sure, though I really love the Tremec manual tranny (the new 2011s are better yet). I can also base my observations on having owned both vehicles, not just what I've read in the car magazines.

Also, you will save an absolute bundle on purchase price with the Mustang. That all being said, though, that 335is is a beautiful car overall. Why haven't you considered the G37 coupe - alot heavier then the Z but drives very nice (I used to have G35 coupe myself)

I considered the G37, but when driving it almost back to back with the 335is, the 335is just felt considerably faster and the handling more crisp. It was still avery nice car though/

Those issues were resolved on the 2011 models with the N54 motor (335is, 1M, Z4 3s-drive)

AlphaSnacks 06-22-2011 12:06 AM

My girlfriend is getting a 2008 335xi Coupe. Do the new LED taillights plug-and-play to the 2007-2010 models?
