Who's the Boss
I think Ford has produced the car that answers the question, "What next?".
It's about bang for the buck performance these numbers from R&T should at least show how the cars would do relative to each other price 0-60 skidpad slalom Mustang GT $30k 4.6 .91 70.6 Corvette GS $50k 4.1 .96 70.7 Boss $40k 4.1 1.02 74.0 370Z $30k 5.2 .98 69.5 I thought I'd have to get the vette to up the ante, or risk a used Porsche It's the Boss |
Within the price tags posted the only two that are comparable to each other are the GT and the Z. With that being said the GT has the 0-60, the Z has the skidpad, and the GT once again has the slalom, but in the end it comes down to the buyer, i personally wont buy the GT for personal reasons, so my choice would be left in the hands of the Z which i proudly own. Oh and the Z has 2 less cylinders to feed so as of right now it is my choice for gas out of the two.

i read the tital and thought it was going to be about Tony Danza

For once Ford focused on handling without waiting for Shelby or Roush to address it. From the special on Speed that I saw for this car it is a beast and considering that the M3 is their target it finally can make it through a corner.
Though, I'm not sure you could find one for $40K after the dealers start to get a hold of them, given that I would personally take a Z over it and just dump the leftover into some mods  Quote:

I have seen many sub 5 second 0-60 runs with the Z.

As far as the pricing goes... if you check the Mustang forums most everyone has been getting them for MSRP or better if they ordered. |

Unless you feel like the Z06 is too much powarrrr for you. Which is totally understandable... the Z06 has a lot of powarrrrr (as you very well know ;)) |

Not saying the Boss isn't a fast car, but really shouldn't judge a car on three numbers...
It just shows how one car tested and how it performed one particular day, by a certain driver in a certain test. Also I don't know about you, but I don't drive from 0 to 60, then in small circles as fast as I can and then swerve from left to right as fast as possible... |

Very true. Boss is pretty sick though. Nissan should have done the Nismo similar to how Ford did the Boss. |
Boss should be sick. I am hoping to be able to get one.

Motortrend has an article this month on the boss mustang and has it "price as tested" at $43,485. That being said, I think the dealers will put a premium on them and they will be above $50k. Its a limited car so I dont think you could get a deal on one in the first year.....maybe year two.....but I doubt it.

Actually one could argue the Nismo 370z and Boss are comparable and in that comparison the Nismo losses badly. Simply put the Z is falling behind the times and Nissan can ill afford to wait until the next gen Z to step it up. I doubt it will happen but I'm hoping that they do something good for the 2012 refresh of the 370z; it's need badly. |

i just finished reading the road and track article on the new Boss and they are giving it rave reviews. It actually drives very well and has much better steering feel and corning and solved a lot of complaints testers had with the regular 5.0. Apparently Ford used softer springs on it so it rides well but can be firmed up with the shocks. Everyone seems to like these. I really cant wait to hear one on the road and hear that side exhaust.
I agree they say MSRP will be 40k but my a$$ Dealers will charge way more which is disappointing. Otherwise i would lobby steve to buy one so i can buy it from him in about 18-24 months. Steve please dont buy one with scaffolding in the back :bowrofl: personally i do prefer offerings from Europe or Japan rather than the US( i know im a traitor) but the US companies are coming back save for Chrysler:shakes head: It seems like a (and dont take this the wrong way) poor mans M3. But it seems to do just about everything a M3 can do but it does give up some creature comforts the M3 keeps. But who wants all creature comforts with their sports car. It will be interesting to see what GMs answer to this is going to be. |
