TAIWANESE CARNAGE: The Trouble With Cheap Parts

Enjoy the carnage, people! Those of you not rocking SSAutoChrome, Stone Mountain, XS Power, and other Taiwanese knock-offs will rest easy...

Look at those nasty *** brackets “supporting” the manifold to the flange. Then look at that clean *** welding….oh wait the flange fell off.

Imagine driving down the street and then your turbo falls off. Sounds stupid? So was this guy for buying XS Power.

One guy’s turbo falls off. Another guy’s wastegate falls off. Are you kidding me?

http://jdm-insider.com/Blogs/Eric/wp.../fakexs006.jpg
The last guy wasnt’ the only one. Here’s another fallen wastegate. Notice the fake *** Tial w/g.

This guy is spending $200 to spray his valve cover and $99 on the exhaust manifold?

http://jdm-insider.com/Blogs/Eric/wp.../fakexs002.jpg
This is before the turbo even ran. And for the finale:

Yes, the compressor housing was GLUED together. LMAO.

I can only hope the misguided people who buy XS Power, SS Autochrome, or Stone Mountain **** will learn their lesson. It's not worth saving $300 on something as important as a turbocharger or exhaust manifold only to have it wreck your build.

COOL! Exploding parts!

THMotorsports 04-09-2009 01:39 PM

XS Power shouldn't be confused with TurboXS or XS Engineering who are both good manufacturers.

BanningZ 04-09-2009 03:27 PM

Wow that is pretty sad. I guess you get what you pay for. It doesn't apply everywhere but in the F/I world it looks to hold true.

Edit: this XS power company does realize that parts get hot right?

Haha. Me too!

Anatoray 04-11-2009 10:30 AM

These parts are very important for Fast and Furious movies where cars lose pieces randomly for dramatic effect.

nismored 04-11-2009 10:49 AM

Say you wanted to save some money so you order that manifold. When that POS arrived in the mail, why the **** would you still put it on your car? So stupid.

epod86 04-11-2009 11:02 AM

Watch, some joe schmoe who races his "budget racer" on a racetrack a few times will come on here at some point and say that "ebay parts work" y0.

It already happened on other forums. People defended the SSAC intercooler kits. To be fair, I even know people who have them and haven't had problems. By no problems, I mean they mostly don't leak or shed chunks of metal into the intake.

That was a sort of a joke in the vein of this discussion I once heard through the grape vine:

Tech: "I'm sorry sir, but you have a pretty serious crack in the engine block, the third cylinder is basically not doing anything."
Customer: "So how many horses am I loosing?"
T: "...Um...I'm not sure...about 1/8th of them, I'd say?"
C: "But won't the supercharger i want installed fix the loss in horses?"
T: "......"

I don't know if my friend just told this as a good story, but you know someone said this at some point in the universe.
