My 5spd Infiniti J30
 
Here are a few pics and some info on my car.

I had a 1994 Infiniti J30 and after an incident in the mountains of north GA it ended up having some frame damage. It was the first car that I did a manual swap on so a lot of the work on it was not as good since I learned with it. All the J30s USDM and JDM did not have a manual option. All the USDM J30s have the VG30DE like the 300zx z32. JDM J30s had a VH41DE option available. February of last year my Auto trans died and I decided (with the push of a few friends) to do a manual swap into my car.

This second time around let me get a better chassis and a better color that I will admit looks a lot better than my gold one. Most of the mods done to my car are done with a lot of research to see what will fit onto the car. There is basically no after market parts available for this car at all in the USDM market.

It should be in the 210-215rwhp range now that I got the fueling system cleaned and new fuel filter installed. Below is a dyno graph from 2 weeks ago when I installed the dual MAF setup. I made 201rwhp before the swap back in December and it only made 189rwhp on the stock intake before putting the dual MAF setup on and dynoed it again 30 min later it got up to 202rwhp.

Needs a tune bad to get rid of that horrible dip in the torque and power curve.

Yes i know and you know its not alot of power (TT Swap!) but thats still props for doing something unique and making it work well.

When are you gonna TT it!

maybe a year or 2 before i can get started on it. have all the parts chosen so have a ballpark idea on cost if i dont seek for some help. i will do the install myself. main part is getting all the intake piping routed nicely and 3" exhaust done. all custom and no after market options lol

that's a nice looking J man, i'm not really a big fan of the cars (i thought they were VQ30's factory?) but this one is nice and good job doing the manual swap, i'm sure it wasn't easy getting all the parts needed.

well havent touched this thread in a while so decided to post an update on what all ive done to the car since last post. i updated mod list in my first post as well to reflect changes.

tackled some general maintenance and also changed out my diff fluid, cleaned diff and installed solid diff bushings for s13

installed some 350z seats i got from a friend. i cut the rails and sliders off the 350z seats and used u-ring bolts to mount the seats to the J30 rails. i then painted the metal semi gloss black and mounted the electronics tot he bottom of the 350z seat so it functions like the J30 seats, just these are made of cloth and support you a lot better. i left the seat adjustment knobs on the drivers seat so have 9 ways i can adjust the seat. each seat also weighs about 10-15lbs less than the OEM J30 seats.

Installed a 300zxTT aluminum radiator from Mishimoto. had to create some custom brackets and i am using a ford taurus electric fan.

so spun another rod bearing on my second motor and finally got a second car to DD and make the J30 official project car. building up a VG30DE with a mix match of J30 and 300zx parts. 90 NA block, 94 J30 10Y heads, 91 300zx 5spd cams, 95 J30 exhaust, 97 J30 lower plenum and fully custom upper intake with balance tube relocation and 60mm throttle bodies.

cleaning the trans, painting it and installing the solid shifter support.

interior got pulled completely cause i had a sunroof leak and carpet got mildew in it. also been pulling wiring out of the car for systems i dont need since going to 5spd and redoing the audio/electrical system. all interior pieces were cleaned and then re-dyed with a vinyl/carpet dye.

suspension is getting an overhaul as well. s13 poly bushings for the rear control arms, maxima shock cartridges for front coilovers and buying all my springs from Apexi for $60 a piece and doing 12k front and 10k rear.

took the spare wheel out of my trunk since it wont fit over my big brake kit up front. redesigning the floor of the trunk and creating a new sub box that will let my 12" sub operate better. bought a generic 1 cu/ft sealed box and after doing some calculations with specs online, the sub needs a 1.4 cu/ft box to operate efficiently.

Interior is all the way in and electrical system is working. Finished sound system and tuned it. Now just need to get intake welded up and find a company to do my front suspension.
