Car recommendation please
 

My buddy who just got the go ahead from his wife to buy another used car for himself. It needs to meet certain requirements for the family too.

Wife needs:
Leather to cut down on dog hair sticking to daughters dresses.
Seat five.
4 door (saloon).
Mileage not too bad maybe 20-22 MPG city.

His needs:
$25,000 used car budget.
Handling over power but not like a Miata's great handling and too few horses.
Reliability and maintenance costs. He would love a BMW but is afraid of maintenance costs.
He is pushing 50 years old so an EVO type car is not age appropriate.

I have suggested an Infiniti G35. A 2006 Infiniti G35x seems (from internet knowledge) to be in the ballpark.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I would recommend the following:

-2007 Acura TL

-2006-2007 Nissan Maxima

-Subaru Legacy

Nissan 370Z... Only option.

I would go for the Panamera. It's over budget a bit but I bet it's worth it.

G35S Sedan. Don't really need the X being in Cali, just more parts to fail.

The budget is very tight.

BMW would be great except he is afraid of maintenance costs and it's reliability.

I would buy the older body Cadillac CTS V, they are a great bargain and AMAZING performance and reliabilty for that price.

The Subie really fits all the criteria best, plus AWD for any condition, year round. I'd love to have one myself for a DD.

Honda Accord

Just throwing this out there, my gf has a 08 dodge avenger, plenty of room, 4 door good on power handling mpg and cost $13k used with 17k miles on it when she bought it. She has 60k miles on it now and the only prob she ever had was the shift mechanism. Some little plastic piece broke and it prevented her from being able to shift. Took the piece out so it could be driven to the shop and $250 later everything is peaches and cream. Apparently its a frequent prob on this model but no recall has been issued for it. :driving:

You should be able to find a very nice low mileage Acura TL Type S with that budget. They're sweet cars.

I drove a 07 TL-S before the 370Z and i thought it was one of the best cars i ever had!
I still miss the extra space and quiet ride...

maybe the acura TLs outside GA are different, cus I test drove them in consideration (before I got the 370z I was considering a nice sedan type) and absolutely hated the TL.

What year? The older ones are total junk and the newest ones with that huge piece of chrome on the front are fugly. :)

it wasnt the newest ones. i didnt look at them cus they are ugly. it was the year right before that. 2007 or 2006 maybe? Also checked out the G8 GT's and those cars are nice. not really sophisticated but fun and felt good.

I would also add the 2006-2007 Infiniti M35, I just noticed yesterday that they are in your buddies price range on Carmax
