First Shots of 2012 GTR

The new wheels are neat.
|
Looks good. Those hyper white LEDs are the next coolest thing. Every new Benz, Porsche and other high end cars have them.
Thanks for posting. Any power info? HP/tq? |

atleast 500 is confirmed but the actual # is probably 520 rear downforce is increased 10% the drag is down to .26 now and those wheels are 26 total lbs lighter! |
nice weight savings on the wheels...though I like them better off the car than I do on the car. Maybe later pictures will change my mind
|

Good solid improvements for the mid cycle refresh, I'm crossing my fingers for around 520 to 530hp. Really cool that they improved the aero so much. I like the weight savings from the new wheels but I'll reserve judgement on the styling until I see them in person, so far, not a fan. So, are you getting one for sure now? I hope nissan doesn't move the price point up again with the '12. ps--not digging the location of the leds either, I know it's a better location than the 09-11's, but I like the way those look better. |
maybe this will make my dad get one

yea probably putting mine up for sale in october... hoping this one arrives februaryish..... getting the new black ( its like a metal flake but not glittery like magnetic black) with the hyper black wheels( although they look silver in the pics) probably getting a base model this time if they offer it here in the US.... i know you cant covert yen to dollars and get an accurate idea of price as a base is 100K in japan and premium is over 110K.... but it looks like if they do a base model here it will be called a "pure" and will be maybe $8-900 over what a 2010 base was so maybe 82K? a premium will be maybe 2500 more so 88ish? it could be a little more than that going to try 3 local dealers here but will most likely have to buy out of state from contact or vendor dealer im guessing to get the price i want |

Yeah, I read on nagtroc that you were going to go with the base model if possible this time. Makes sense if you don't care about heated seats and Bose stereo. I think there's a psychological barrier to pricing the GTR over 90k in the US. I think nissan will keep the price just under that number. I thought the base was out for the us though and only premiums were coming, or was that just a 2011 thing? I guess Nissan's learned their lesson regarding production numbers after so many 09's and 10's lingered on the lots due to the economy. What do you expect, maybe around 500 per year or so from now on? That seems like a reasonable #. |
Nice, thanks for sharing this with us.

wish i could share some more of the "good stuff" ;) keep checking on NAGTROC or here in the next few days there is some good info coming down the pipe http://www.gtrblog.com/ |
hows your GTR holding up?

yeah the base was cut out for 2011... but im assuming it was because they only brought over 300 for the spring summer as the 2011 in all due respect was a carry over year and they figured we are bringing so few over lets keep it simple since no one bought the base anyway ... now in japan it seems the are going to market the base as a more entry level car for like a weekend racer or something and market the premium as a more upscale luxury sports car.... i hope nissan brings the base over for 2012 but i have no idea if they will... they might keep the 12 as limited as the 11 was... i mean its struggling to sale 80 per month and with a price increase ...even though your getting a dramatically improved car... they will sale less.... but yeah if the offer a base for like 3K less and i dont get excluded from say a wheel or tire option i want... to hell with heated seats and bose... im going base... but right now its hard to say and i have a feeling they wont offer it again unless they plan to pick up the flow of cars coming over Quote:
great 13K miles going strong no real problems.. it eats tires pretty bad but besides that ownership has been very manageable cost wise i love my car dont get me wrong but i rationalize getting a new one as follows i am in the market anyway for different wheels... the 12 has new wheels i like... if i bought some wheels and tires that would be $5K if i bought a set of volks or something also if i kept mine in addition to the wheels i would get the LEDs... the 12 has them thats so $1200 if i bought aftermarket i dont really want a tuned car for my purposes but wouldnt mine a little power bump i get a brand new warranty..the 3/36K is up for me next july i get brand new brakes.. i would be spending $2-3K in a years time anyway for this i get brand new fluids.. this would cost me over $1K next year and the longer i keep my car the less it will be worth so it makes sense to jump now before its worth like mid 50's next year and the gap rises... and im fairly certain can swap over my HKS exhaust and midpipe... so i can keep my current mods and above all i guess since i do this for a living i sort of need to have the latest greatest to know what im talking about |
check back in this thread later tonight..major details to follow
|
In for updates, but not 100% liking it, need to see it in person probably.

Anyway, Matt, an early congrats on your new GTR from yours truely. I really hope that the base starts at under 90K though. Now, if only Nissan would turn this kind of attention to the 370z.... |

the info we got said 7:2? so they did record a new time...its not sub 7:20 but i think it might suprise and be close to 7:20 even but we wont know until october |
Wow I'm glad Nissan is continuing to seriously up the bar with this refresh. Some nice models and options available... I love that new blue color.
|
I wish I got that kind off money floating around for a GTR. I guess the Z will be with me for a whileeeee!!!

Anybody truth to what I read about being able to switch to RWD?
edit: Yes. I'm a little late to the party. :D |
Quote:
yes its true.. BUT as the moment when dont know what the limitations of that are... the mode is tied to the transmission switch which is now a "Normal" "R" and "Save" in stead of snow... the info we got says if you hold down save mode ( which is a fuel economy mode) for 4 secs you will get 2WD mode.. beyond that there isnt alot of info... i personally do not think it will be performance oriented meaning i dont think your going to be able to go and do burnout and drift to your hearts content... i think it has something to do with the fuel economy and or having to do with freeing the car from a situation... now with that said who know what can eventually be done with it... but until i read otherwise knowing all the drama nissan went through with the launch control.. i dont see this as a factory installed burnout button... http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/5919/99323936.jpg i know the new launch control is now at 4K rpm with the VDC on.. and the car launches at a 98/2% split anyway so not sure if they button comes in to play with that either... |
More Power In Store for 2012, Spec-M Named for Japan Market: The Nissan GT-R EGOIST
http://www.gtrblog.com/wp-content/up...1b-540x357.jpg Well we did mention that the SpecM name was tentative and today we’ve heard another rumor from sources close to Nissan that the R35 GT-R “Gentleman’s Edition” will launch in the Japanese market as the Nissan GT-R Egoist. While the name seems insane to us it’s not too far outside the bounds of Japanese naming schemes so that we’d completely rule it out. The SpecM nameplate is likely to be kept in markets outside Japan however so don’t completely cross it off your wish list just yet… On the topic of rumors from sources close to Nissan Japan, here’s another we’ve just heard. Those folks hopeful that 520ps is the new peak power figure for the 2012 GT-R might be surprised to learn they can expect to be dissapointed. After seeing this figure making its way around blogs and forums one might start quoting it as fact by now but to this date no figure has appeared either officially or leaked. In the true spirit of it not being over ’till the fat lady sings, we’re now told by our reliable sources that 530ps – 540ps is more accurate. |
Wow that looks sick. I love that new wheel design. I also like the way the driving lights are integrated into the bumper that's hot.
