I am going to the DMV tomorrow morning to apply for title and register the car.

Just did the sound tube mod... I pulled out the insulator and the plug inside the cockpit. It's definitely louder when you're on the throttle in the mid-range but nothing crazy. I might keep it like this until I get my CAI and exhaust, then I'll just remove the thing all together.

I havent done it yet but i'm curious how it sounds, i'm still holding off on the CAI/Tune combo, I wanna wait a few months to see if anyone comes along with something that produces astronomical gains:tup:

It's a pretty big increase in volume in the mid range. Idle and everywhere else sounds the same.

At this switch rate, I should launch a mustang forum! :bowrofl:

Seriously, gotta give props where it's due. Ford did a fantastic job and I would gladly rent one for the weekend!:driving:

I've owned five Fords and my wife has a Focus, they've all been great vehicles and I'll probably own a Mustang if they have a good refresh in 2012 or 13.

LOL I hear ya on that one.

Red, I would do the sound tube mod. It sounds a lot throatier now in the cockpit. It will definitely hold me over until I choose an exhaust setup.

Gotta love the sound deadening in this car, though. A welcome change from the road noise galore in the Z.

I agree man, the sound deadening is AMAZING, in the cockpit at WOT, the stock exhaust still sounds too tame, how long did it take you to take that plug out? and how did you do it, that video doesnt show much.

Just get some exhaust mods, that will change that. :)

nevermind, found it, i thought the hole was in the floorboard, apparently it was up and to the left in the footwell.

here is the culprit:

I honestly think the stock exhaust sounds great. It's perfect for a stock car. I only want it a tad louder, so I will be going Bassani.

The Bassani sounds nice, but i'm tired of tame, my Stillen was a bit too quiet for me, I wanna wake the neighbors now.

As far as that sound tube mod, it sounds incredible now, definitely a noticeable difference, I dont think pulling the one from the engine bay would be a good idea, its plenty loud with one removed.

Been there done that with my '03 GT. O/R X pipe and Magnaflows... loud!

My FIs were a little loud for my tastes. I guess I'm getting older. :icon17:

Take a pic of where you got that one from? I pulled a foam piece out of the engine bay but that's it...

my phone doesnt have a flash on it, its pretty dark up in there, so i'll describe it as best as i can...

get down and look up under the furthest left you can under the dash against the fire wall, you should see a hole up there, its further left than all the wiring harnesses, its open, there isnt a plug, all you have to do is pull the insulation out and voila, done. How did you get the one out of the engine bay? I wouldnt mind trying that later, like, where is the insulation located?
