The 1m is sick. Its not as good looking as a Z but, if you buy it in the right color(lighter colors) and get nice dark tints. I it shows off the right curves. Get the wrong color (darker colors) and the high roofline looks more pronounced.
As far as the poster that keeps harping on the fuel pump issue. That was 08/09 models and the N54 engine. This is the N55, with a new dual clutch tranny and its the 1M with lsd, dual exhaust, tune and other goodies. The C&D article is rittled with misinfo and there's still things bmw hasn't revealed.

If you are spending 40k to 50k, this car seems like it might possibly be a winner??? If you are spending less than that. The Z looks like the winner to me. It all depends on what fits the budget.

The 1 series is terrible looking. It just looks... wrong.

For one, the new 1M uses the N54 from the 07-09 so fuel pump issues are likely.

The new N55 hasn't proven to be a fix for the fuel pump issues. Owners are still reporting problems.

Also the 1M is coming with a 6 speed manual only.

And how do you figure the Car & Driver article is " riddled with misinfo" ? The only "misinfo" I've seen came from you.

As far as looks that's obviously subjective but I think 1M looks much better than the Z. Everyone and their mothers mother drives a 370z around here so I guess I've become numb from seeing them everywhere I go.

For under 40k I think I'd be looking at the 11' Mustang GT, EVO X are STI. The 370z was alright but the engine sounds like it's going to explode when revved, not enough air flow gets to the brakes (design flaw), the LSD is of the generic type, needs oil coolers, outward visibility is poor, and last but not least their a dime a dozen. I hope I didn't offend anyone just stated my opinion. The most important thing is that you are happy so please spare me the hysterics.

You are spot on about the 1M coupe. The other poster had all kind of inaccurate info.

However, I just had a blast last night revving my Z to red line. Engine sound is lovely to me. Your other comments are just off. I will take my Z over all the other cars you mentioned. The only thing that in my mind trumps my Z is the GTR. Only other car I would sell my Z for.....

Fighting words in a Z community haha, but I will say you are way wrong on alot of things. I must say your taste is not very good either, b/c a 1 m is not better looking no matter how you spin it, and an STI should never be chosen over this car unless you have a family.
