The same could be said about a lot of cars it. Its really a matter of opinion. I own a lexus myself, but I am not bias when it comes to cars due to what I own or what brand. I can however tell you that owning a lexus has swayed me more towards loving this car just because I followed what went into it. Sure, as far as performance in a straight line goes, it is NOT that impressive only beating the GTR by minimal feet in the 1/4. But, it seems this car will decimate on the track with what has been speculated (not confirmed) 7:24 on the nurburgring. Anyways all 500 have already sold so it would appear that the 10 years lexus put into this car paid off.

maybe owning a 400k lexus is ridiculously stupid given the fact that you can get more for less. But at the end of the day, its still a remarkable piece of engineering.

Pish posh, Negative Nancy. Bugatti loses money on each Veyron if I remember right, and they only reason they made that was to see if they could (even if I think their quad-turbo W16 was ridiculously impractical...). Doesnt stop me from thinking its a sexy car, though.

Same goes for the LFA.

If I had millions of dollars to blow and I wanted an exclusive car that has a badass interior any gadget freak would blow a nut over...I'd definitely get it lol.

Jeffblue 06-04-2010 06:20 AM

my Z can break a champagne glass too if i drive over it. :)

LateralG'z 06-04-2010 06:44 AM

cool

Push370zzz 06-04-2010 10:40 AM

that's a hella lot for a toyota that can barely beat a GTR

There's so much more to automobiles than just test track numbers.

in that case the LFA doesnt even beat the GTR... i dont know what it would run under different circumstances but GTRs run 11.5 stock all day long not 11.9 like that video showed

Watched the head-to-head of a GT-R against an LFA from C&D. GT-R got the jump (barely, but did), and they said they babied the LFA and didnt even want to contemplate damaging it, and it still edged the GT-R out.

Furthermore, they said anywhere past the quarter mile, the LFA just made the GT-R look dumb, as it started pulling and pulling.

Now, you cant tell me that someone ****** up the launch on the GT-R and the LFA somehow still edged it out?

HKYStormFront 06-04-2010 03:21 PM

that was a pretty slow 1/4 mile run but i guess conditions are the same for the LFA at the time so..... who knows

All I'm saying is this: if anyone's going to **** up a 1/4 mile run AFTER the jump, in an AWD car? They may as well retire from drag racing lol. ESPECIALLY one with the vaunted launch control.

alvinmathew88 06-04-2010 03:34 PM

Wow thats cool.. i learned about this in highschool. The car's exhaust had the same resonance as the champagne class.. Man i wish i had this commercial to demonstrate resonance in HS, boy would i have been a physicist!

lemansz20 06-04-2010 03:53 PM

Guys definately did NOT post this to become a balls battle between the gtr and LFA. I just posted it, b/c it is strictly a very cool video. They spent some money doing that im sure, but its just a cool idea and the sound of this car is everything and more.

Its not just conditions I have run at that track and for 1 they raced on it backwards so there was no rubber giving the AWD car the obvious advantage but yes the conditions there SUCK I ran 3/10ths faster at another track with the same set up

Nick911sc 06-04-2010 08:36 PM

Can you honestly compare the LFA to the GT-R at that price point? Shouldn't it go up against real super cars? lol

TBH for that price difference it should **** all over the GT-R. But it doesn't do that much better than anything in that price range.. I'd love to see it go up against a million of the other cars that are cheaper than it.

HKYStormFront 06-04-2010 09:09 PM

yea this^^^ the fact that the GTR can keep up with the car that is (as described on top gear) "an engineer's wet dream" speaks volumes for the R35. imagine how insane an R35 with the kind of money an LFA costs would be... of course then it's "only" an R35. i will give them the fact that might be one of the top 5 best sounding engines ever, especially for a road car

We can buy 4 GTRs with what one LFA cost, Red, White, Silver & Black and still have money left over. The sad thing is that the GTR with a few upgrades will have the LFA for lunch.

Chris_1 06-05-2010 12:53 AM

The car is really beautiful, and the sound is just amazing. Aston martins used to be my favorite sounding cars, but now the LFA has become #1.

And a Lexus LFA with a few upgrades wouldn't? Have you ever read in detail the engineering, technology, materials, etc that goes into making the Lexus LFA?

It's not just about "my car gets from point A to B be quicker so I win" in terms of what renders a particular automobile exciting, admirable, etc.

People make old POS Civic hatches ran quicker than 100K+ cars all day long. Still I’m sure the 100K cars (beaten by the Civic hatch) have many other attributes which make them far more desirable own, drive, etc.

Nikon FM 06-05-2010 02:29 AM

really gets down to what a person wants versus function versus cost. I'm more a function versus price point person so I'd most likely not buy a Loyota. Nice commercial though, thanks for posting.

Push370zzz 06-05-2010 01:19 PM

so LFA, or:

Either a 599 GTB, 458 Italia, two F430's, or my personal favorite...a 458 Italia and a GT-R with still around $80k to take care of TTL and Insurance for a year or so.

Bottom line though, if you are considering a lexus with that pricetag, you probably aren't going to have to compromise much as far as what's in your garage, so the price is almost irrelevant. I doubt whomever is buying these can just barely squeak by the payments and buying this doesn't limit what else they are going to get

:driving:

The car already cost $400K+, How many more upgrades it would need?...

yea and i bet that car is pretty much maxed out, there might be room for forced induction but that would defeat the purpose of the car. especially on such a limited production car, i would be surprised to see hardly any mods for it

and who would even be able to find a car in order to tune it? they only will make 500 in total. besides, this car seems to high tech for a tuner to modify easily. and don't forget that you lease it, not own it. so i'm sure toyota would veto any attempted upgrade.

Anytime I hear this, I always look at Porsche's, Lambo's or Ferrari's where you think the same thing...and yet some aftermarket company comes out with a twin turbo kit for them and they run 1XXX HP.

So they can use it as a pennis enlargement tool...:roflpuke2:

Because they are not impressing to many people!

mrcardio 06-06-2010 11:02 PM

Maybe it’s just me but I’d rather own a car that is more rewarding and exciting to drive vice. one that’s merely quick. It’s often the immeasurable qualities of an automobile that get over looked. This is a shame because these “immeasurable qualities” are what makes an automobile so great.
