CrownR426 05-16-2010 12:50 AM

Amazing!!!!
How is that thing anyways?
I went up against those a few time.
Don't seem to quick.

HKYStormFront 05-16-2010 12:54 AM

thanks crown, i like it. it feels softer than a Z tho in just about every way. it's also considerably heavier. 335's (3.0L Turbo) make 300 hp or so, so in a heavier car, yea it's gonna be a tad slower. still a fun car to drive though i'm sure. seats sure are comfy...

Pushing_Tin 05-16-2010 12:57 AM

A little low for my personal tastes, but I love the color and wheels. Photo quality is superb.

HKYStormFront 05-16-2010 07:59 AM

thanks tin, it's only about an 1" drop, not much at all. with all of my lighting gear and me (a passenger) the back right rubs going over bigger dips in the road lol

Deslin 05-16-2010 10:28 AM

Great pics as always!

Tell him to clean his car, I think I saw a speck of dirt. :p

HKYStormFront 05-16-2010 11:49 AM

sad thing was it had just rained so we spent like 10 mins wiping the car down for pics, thanks though!

StLRedrider 05-16-2010 11:52 AM

The 335i is severaly under-rated. It's widely known that the actual HP/TQ figures are closer to 350hp/350tq. It's every bit as quick / quicker vs. the 370z as well. Road&Track tested it at: 13.3@ 105.7 vs. 13.7@ 103.9 for the Z. At VIR the 335i runs about 2 secs quicker than the Nizmo Z.

I looked into the 335 as my next car.. However, i hear lots of horror story about it's hpfp... what's your exp with it?

HKYStormFront 05-18-2010 09:01 AM

^^ yea john said that's a pretty common issue. down here we are running an "up to 10% ethanol" mix of gas and he said that has been eating up the seals in his fuel system and causing hpfp issues. during the winter the ethanol mix was causing my truck to spark knock really bad... to the point that i thought something was seriously wrong and took it to the dealership.

antman22 05-18-2010 11:25 AM

nice photos! white cars are difficult to shoot!

i considered a 335 when looking for a new car, but man, after seeing the issues my friend had with his (fuel pump, electronics, fuel injectors...), it turned me off. yes, its all covered under the bmw warranty, but i think last year he took his car in about 9 times. that's nearly once a month (i think one month it was 3x, and he was lucky enough to have a couple months of worry free driving lol).

as nice as a 335 is, i wanted to spend more time driving my car than a loaner. i just wonder what will happen to the turbos in a couple years...

HKYStormFront 05-18-2010 12:32 PM

with all the issues that are cropping up with higher mileage direct injection motors, particularly the turbo ones it will be interesting to see what the long term service of these (and other DI-T) cars are. john said some guys are using a light methonal injection in the intake for power and for cleaning the valves since they get clogged really bad, even at low mileage

That's why you buy the "BMW Maintenance Program Upgrade" which extends your warranty 2yrs / 50,000 miles. When combined with the factory warranty you now have 6yrs / 100,000 miles for an extra $2,095.

I just priced a 335i sedan the way I would want it and it cost $46,270 (before Tax/Tag/Title)

All said and done you're leaving with a 50K+ car note for a lightly optioned 335i sedan (The coupe starts off over 2k more!)

That's with just: Sport package ($2,150) / upgraded sound system ($875) / BMW Maintenance Program Upgrade ($2,095) / Montego Blue Metallic Paint ($550)
