NEW 2009 SRT8 Challenger sells for $29.1K - Dodge Challenger Forum: Challenger & SRT8 Forums

Cliff notes: Dealership didn't set a reserve, guy wins 2009 srt8 challenger, dealership refuses to sell. You've probably heard this story a few times since it's happened before.

Reading through some of the posts, the dealership has said they will not sell the car and it was a mistake so oh well to the guy who bid.

similar to the guy who got a hyundai coupe on the cheap. i think hyundai of america eventually came forward and bitchslapped the dealership into honoring the auction. hope this guy gets the same.

Yep, the Dodge dealership has stated it is the fault of eBay and they do not have to honor it. Bad part for them is eBay has already come back and stated they are not at fault, someone on their end (dealership) did something.

Yup, first thing I thought of. The guy is definitely going to get the car. He'll probably have to get a lawyer involved though.

You can better believe that if this was the other way around the dealer would stop at nothing to force the guy to buy the car at whatever price. The same rules should apply to them. Can you imagine trying to tell the dealer that you just made a mistake bidding???

Jewish lawyer required.

that's exactly what's messed up about the whole thing, and exactly why people caught up in such disputes should never give the stealership a break even if it really was an innocent mistake. if the tables were turned you bet the stealership would have fleeced that buyer out of his clothes, innocent mistake or not.

Same thing happened to a guy on m3post. He eventually won. He started an internet campaign, had hundreds of people call the dealership and got them in trouble with EBay (which was the best thing to do because they suspended their account).

theDreamer 03-21-2010 03:07 PM

It looks like it is all done, he got the car at the lower price.

the guy got a 2010 challenger instead of the 09 with some miles on it.. he even came out better it seems

antman22 03-22-2010 04:59 PM

if the dealership was smart, they'd realize the loss on the car is far better than the bad press they'd receive. who knows how many sales they'd end up losing out on due to bad press.
