Return of the juke?

People gave the Juke a lot of shyt... calling it the joke; etc... But anyone who took the time to drive one would have found out... handling was phenomenal in sport trims. It was the first time I ever felt a cvt feel good and it had a great shifting manual. The joke is the Nissan kicks.

I'm excited to see the juke come back. Not only that... it was said the Z was gonna come back in a new modular chassis platform that can facilitate FWD and RWD. The juke was supposed to be the first car. The maxima second. The Z 3rd. Then 2 more surprise cars... So that means. The New Z is coming SOON.

Awesome!!!

Couldn't find the modular chassis article cuz it's very old but. I remember Nissan explaining the modular chassis would drive Z R&D costs down by a lot.

I actually love my 6sp Nismo RS Juke, its a great daily driver throughout all seasons, and i picked it up for pretty cheap with only 8k miles on it since no one wants the stick version.

Zezus 07-24-2019 09:42 AM

I always like the juke as well. We managed to cram 9 people into one once for a trip doown the block in negative weather lol. Tell me that isn't impressive!

I think it would be awesome if gen 2 did stick with AWD. it would bring the enthusiasts for the juke. I think this was a missed opportunity in the enthusiast outlook. Many had opinions without driving it. The thing in my opinion was just as fun as a Z. Though slower. It had all the torque response missing in a FRS at the time.

On a side note... I've always felt.
Take that juke engine. The acura tlx transmission and stick it in a 86 rwd with an awd and manual option? You would have the perfect cheap car.

I saw that happen at the Circus once, but it was filled with a bunch of clowns...:)

What about the nose? Did everyone have their big red noses on to go with those floppy shoes?

JARblue 07-24-2019 10:39 AM

I had an opportunity to autoX a Juke Nismo a number of years back. Overall I can admit the car was fun to drive. But transmission options were a big fail  The CVT was boring. And MT was FWD :ugh:

That said, I'm actively looking for another DD and a low mileage Juke Nismo RS MT would meet my minimal needs - I want MT and enough room to fit the 4 Z wheels and tires.

No, the noses were too large. We had to leave them behind :/

Great. Maybe GM will also resurrect the Pontiac Aztek. Seriously, the Juke is uglier than a baboon's ***.

ImportConvert 07-25-2019 11:52 AM

I would have had legit interest in a Juke if it were a) Faster, b) didn't have that horrid front end, c) had AWD in manual available.

The aztek didnt perform like a juke. Looks were polarizing yet they sold a bunch of jukes.

I really liked how the Aztek handled on twisty roads. And then when you tired from all that performance and Pontiac excitement, you could tent out the back end and rest in Aztek luxury.

:rofl2:

You are the first guy I ever heard say this but...
You make good points. It had no looks but all convenience and functionality.

Here's a rendering of the new juke. Slightly less quirky but still juke like in the rendering pic.
Wondering if...

It will get more power?
Will it be longer?
Will they consider the IDX as a car version of the juke? That would be funner!!

This is the car that will save Nissan. When I first saw the original Juke, I thought I was looking at the world's ugliest car, but more and more of them kept popping up.

It's like when Galileo knew the Earth wasn't the center of the solar system, and no one believed him, or when Marty McFly stunned everyone in 1955 with Johnny B Good.

I just watched Back to the future. :icon18:
I totally agree. The drive was fun. The interior design was fun. And it was ugly but had loads of personality. Like some of the chics that dudes who buy cars to attract women screw. Lol. Theres a car for everyone. :driving::rofl2:

So reading this article I was so excited!!! In a way!! But in another was I was TOTALLY let down BEYOND BELIEF!!! Of course!!! We're talking about Nissan ova. heuh!!!

The jukes PROS.

Wider
13% stiffer body rigidity
6% lighter
Longer wheelbase.
NO CVT... WE GET A DUAL CLUTCH... FINALLY!!!
Grip Z and GTR esque styling.

CON...

We get a 1Ltr 115hp engine!!!
Like what the fvckin fvck? So ummm... what is it with Nissan? Are they hellbent on taking a shyt on anything semi-worth driving? What's the effin motive ova here!!! The kicks has more power.

So that means the juke LOST 73HP????
I kept reading hoping I'd hear about the optional engine? Nope!!!

Idiot company if I ever seen one? I think it's time to just give up on Nissan building anything meaningful or being competitive. Somebody lied to them and said they will sell cars NOT being cmpetitive... so you realize how much your customers hate cvt cuz hyundai been selling the shyt out of dual clutches but your solution is to give HALF THE ENGINE OF A HYUNDAI at hyundai prices? Lol. All they hadda do was squeeze 200 measly horses out the juke reboot? They couldn't even do that?

The role has reversed. In fast n furious Tokyo drift Han said. "You think I'll let you roll in a hyundai?"

If we remade Tokyo Drift today? I think he'd say? Think I'd let you roll in a Nissan? Geez?
The Juke would be Bow Wow's hulk scion equivalent.

200HP in a juke was too much to ask? Losers!!!

RANT OVER!!

JLarson 08-19-2019 09:20 AM

Ugh, 115 hp?! Laughable! My wife had a juke when we first met, and it was already slow enough that it did once almost kill us while we waited for the turbo to spool.

My experience was the juke was quick enough. Especially in AWD.

0-60 in 7.3 seconds.
Quarter mile in 15.7 seconds
.89g's of grip.

For a $19,000 starting price? I think it was better and faster than most cars at the same price and handled great. The CVT was the weak point.

If it had a 200hp engine with all the advancements of the new chassis. I could easily see a juke getting to 60 in 6.7 seconds with the right engine. But ummm... Nissan!!

So now you get 73hp less and it will cost 10% more. Losers!!!

Ventruck 08-19-2019 09:39 PM

The next gen Juke is savior of Nissan. Slow is the new fast.

ZeeingAround 08-20-2019 09:55 AM

JUKE: A cvt and an ugly face. F that. The only way you get me in one of those is last call. After all the prius and HHRs have left the parking lot.

Lol... That's what it seems like.
Well it seems Nissan knows better than to bring that punkmobile to the U.S.A. They're selling it in Europe where those pastry eating slow pokes can drive around in their vagina mobiles while drinking an orangina.

https://www.motor1.com/news/368645/2...ke-debut-euro/

Go Nissan!! :koolaidwall:

ImportConvert 09-06-2019 07:37 AM

Maybe the engine is stoopid over-built and it's a wink-wink nudge-nudge just to crank the boost? Maybe turbo swap? Maybe the rest of the drivetrain can handle plenty of power and this is kindof an easter-egg sortof like the 2JZ drivetrains?

Maybe that's just reaching...but so is a 115hp engine, ROFL!

UNKNOWN_370 09-20-2019 08:13 PM

Nissan is putting that whole 117hp on track with a Nismo. :koolaidwall:

Another gutless wonder with nice lines....

https://www.motor1.com/news/376212/n...-debut-photos/

Just like society, cars are becoming shallow. Nice on the outside, with nothing worth having in the heart. This is the new juke.

JLarson 10-14-2019 08:59 AM

Kill it with fire!

NISMO IX 10-14-2019 08:05 PM

I had a 2014 Juke NISMO AWD/CVT for almost 5 years. It wasn't that bad, I just wanted AWD with the 6M and traded it for a 2017 Focus RS a few months ago.
