Next GTR NOT going electric!!!!! Thank you!!!

https://leftlanenews.com/nissan/1517612231556401147/

This was the Nissan rumour that made me barf in my mouth every night. Thank the Car God that this is in black and white. Just a few days ago they were writing about EV Z's and GT-R's. Maybe Ghosn being fired saved this car? Who knows? Who cares? Just give us a smaller, lighter GTR with either the same power or more?

Now Nissan. Bare us some fruit!!!
We're waiting!!!

Good....

It would have had to lose 500 lbs just to make up for the 500lbs of battery it would need to get equivalent performance out of that hefty beast!!!

Looks like Nissan wants to go the chevy route and build a mid engine?

This will probably be more of a mc laren competitor in price. If it ever comes out. Nissan playing games. Not even sure they deserve the purchase. Lol.

CRiZO 10-17-2019 09:21 PM

There's zero evidence Nissan wants to go mid engine.

Thank you Nissan again this is the best news I heard all week. You can thank the average consumer vehicle shopping how has limited knowledge of the current vehicle market for hybrid and electric cars being the wave of the future. I don’t think it’s in Nissan’s best interest to raise the price point of the GTR because it is out of the hands of many and going hybrid and adding all the weight from all the batteries/equipment would be a poor choice as the GTR is already heavy as it is. The pricing of owning a brand new base GTR has only went up by a 1-3K since the unveiling of the GTR in 2007. For Nissan/Infiniti to remain popular in the current vehicle market they need the GTR and 370Z models despite units sold. The coming of the new Z35 400Z would be a smart move for Nissan to make! The one good thing Nissan owners have is excellent resale value for the first 5-6 years of ownership when purchasing new and the Nissan GTR and 370Z are desired and wanted Japanese sports cars in the current vehicle market today despite sales. Support Nissan/Infiniti as much as you can so they will continue building our cars.

I've already got my 370Z so I'm covered. I hope they discontinue the Z car line for my selfish reasons. The GTR days are limited too with so much competition and price points for purchase and aftermarket prices.

Nissan has discontinued the Cummins diesel option in the Titan XD and with the big 3 debuting 3.0 L options in their 1/2 ton line up. Nissan truck market is going to get crushed and that's too bad as it's a better built truck than the big 3 1/2 tons.

But they're cancelling the Cummings for selfish reasons. :icon17:

They should have made a real 3/4 ton. Heavy 1/2 ton is a niche market.

I don't claim to know their reasons, but part of the problem is that people buy these with diesel and no clue as to what they are for. If you are regularly lugging or towing heavy loads for hours at a time, then diesel for the win. But most people buy pickup trucks to do the groceries, take the kids to school, and perhaps drive the hour to the lake a few times a year. And they want the diesel thinking it's "cool". Well, it is - it never gets hot enough to work the catalyst and the exhaust gets plugged with soot. Suddenly their dashboard is lit up like the Christmas Tree of Death, and they go dissing Nissan or Cummins on every board imaginable. People are stupid sometimes.

Speaking of stupid, and electric, anyone going to run out and be the first on their block to own the Tesla pickup truck?

Thread derail accomplished.

My input was a lighthearted pun at him wanting them to end production of the Z.

I hate even looking st Nissan news. . It's been the same redundant BEE ESS since 2015. It's So boring. But they have no info. They think people get excited with their news style? No we dont.

If they build an Ev, they need to build a gas model next to it and see which one sells better. U know where I'm putting my money!!!

I think I may go back to mazda if the Rx9 comes out though. If it's anything like the Rx7? Itll be nothing short of AMAZING!! But then theres the alfa GTV. I dunno... test drives will tell. I had high Hope's for the Q60. N look at that POS driving trash.

If you are considering the Infiniti Q60 great choice I say quality control is excellent overall and overall a well built vehicle. If the new Mazda RX9 is going to be built by Ford good luck quality will be job#1,000,000. Also the rumored Wankel rotary engine will be hit or miss zoom zoom!

That'll probably be about when I'll be willing to give up the Camaro.
