2020 Mazda rotary to make a return

I wish Mazda will make up their mind lol Now they state the rotary will be back as a electric range extender, which hopefully pave the way of next gen rx7.

Holy thread resurrections Batman!!!
But this news confirms the RX9 is coming with a brand new rotary and brand new designed engine specific turbochargers...
And this render is beautiful. Its reminiscent of the old FD. I hope they keep the old dash layout. Just make it digital for today's tastes.

Needs to be at least a 3 rotor. 4 rotor would wonderful.

This new Mazda RX9 looks to have a sleek and sharp body style. The power plant is weak only 2.0L?? The only good news for Mazda is they are owned by various Japanese stakeholder today and fortunately Ford has no shares in Mazda so the new RX9 model should be a much better build and quality than it’s previous predecessor models. Will there be a RX9 model Mazda we will see?? Mazda has a great chance to improve in the auto market we will see what the future is for Mazda they have potential but they need models like the RX9 to be popular in the current auto market though.

The FD series rotary was a 1.3 liter that put out 255hp/217lbs of torque on a 2800lb car. Zero to 60 happened in 5.5 seconds with a sub 14 second quarter mile, stock. Rotary uses displacement differently. This engine should be able to make over 300hp b4 the hybrid system I believe is being planned as a torque booster.

Yeah it is... I'm not sure I'd take a Z over this. Mazda has really stepped their game up. Their subpremium cars are near Lexus quality. Lets see what happens

:iagree: I think Car and Driver tested the 1993 RX7 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and quarter mile in the high 13 seconds, impressive at that time period.

I obviously am a Mazda fan, but we've been hearing about the "new rx9" for forever. I'll believe it when I see it.

At least in the case of mazda. Their dilemma that has had them on the drawing board for 20 yrs is they've been trying go reinvent the wheel. The 13B wouldn't pass emissions, and those of us that have owned the FD have amazing stories of unreliability, going thru st least one engine rebuild and feeding our cars a ridiculous amount of oil. Mazda has gone back to the drawing board for these reasons and to me, that's valid. Plus Ford almost bankrupted them out of the business.

Unlike Nissan, that saw amazing sales records on almost every bread and butter car they built from 2008 to 2014... then began slipping on those numbers in efforts trying to compete against Tesla. And right now PRO-PILOT is taking a slow massive shyt of unreliability.

The car market and hollywood cinema are suffering the same demise... SJW 's have infiltrated both markets with their BS and both have a confused market. Show we tree hug or should we put out what people want? So they play the middle. And whenever you play as y the middle you lose. they all should have focused on 1 serious EV n STFU n be patient. While keeping the car market successful while it was.

Nissan made an amazing engine in that VR30dett . But they neglected that chassis n transmission for PRO PILOT II. Just build a sports car with luxury amenities.

At least Mazds has been true to their mission the whole time. Yes they're underpowered and it affects my purchase of one right now. N I dont do crossovers, I'll never be "that guy". So mazda is a no go right now... but let them make a respectaable Rx7? I'll be back in one soon enough.

The LA auto show didn't have the Mazda, it's not happening for 2020.

Nissan killed themselves by making $hitty product. They have nothing new and they have nothing that can compete in any market segment. It has nothing to do with Pro Pilot or the electric cars. They simply don't have anything to offer. The only thing they can compete on is price in fleet sales, they are selling these old a$$ Altimas and Sentras that people treat them worse than village bicycles.

I guess the only exception to that is Dodge with their Challengers/300M, I can't believe they are still selling them after 10 years.

Seen the sales report last week. Hard to believe, but the Challenger out sold both the Camero, and Mustang for the year so far. :icon14:

:iagree:I cant stand when people talking about the 370z being out dated, when the challenger looks even more ancient, its a hideous looking boat. The z34 still has way better sexy lines, still looks better than a lot of current new cars.

^^^^This, the 370z is just about timeless as far as looks are concerned. Who cares about the bloatware folks want. I don't give a rats butt about having Navigation, apple car play, internet, connecting my phone to my car. When I am driving, that dang phone is in the seat. If someone calls, leave a message.

I'd actually pay more to not have all that tech chaos installed in my car. I dont need it, did just fine without it in the past, and now it just makes #### harder to fix when it inevitably breaks. No Gracias, Senor!!!
