America Gone Wild!: ZR1, ZL1, DEMON

https://youtu.be/tIGOQiYPUbA

The power and newfound handling of GM muscle is wicked and extrordinary. The power torque and manageability of a 4500lb demon is downright insane.

This generation of muscle will go down in history as a series of firsts. The ZL1 is compared to a GT3 Porsche. Unheard of. The ZR1 is being compared to $250,000 Mclaren.

God bless America!!!

Man there are quite a few impressive offerings!! Only thing I dislike about the whole idea is for most it's wayyyyy too much power. Hell you see all this more car than driver experience all the time. People just want more and more torque and hp and half these fools can't handle half of that...Murica!!! Lol

Yeah, true, all that... but all that chaotic hp and torque make for fabulously idiotic youtube videos! :icon17:

Those new Camaro and Mustangs are nasty

The ZL1 h as idling rivals a GT3 for $58,000/$72,000 depending on how you deck it out. It's driveable and fairly fuel efficient for the power level . it's just crazy.

The ZR1. Finally a corvette that's is actually an exotic performance rival. I can't even deal with that thought. It's mind boggling.

It's everything we been asking of the foreign market. America is doing. Interiors don't rival Europe yet. But we don't overengineer the mechanics n get a better performance result. It's just nuts. If you told me in 2012 we'd be here today. I'd laugh in your face. MRC... Changed the game for GM.

The gt350 is another amazing car. But no one talks about thanks to Ford's greed and upmarket of up to $30,000. The only people buying ford gt350 are die hard fan boys. The ZL1 brings in New clientele. Though GM sales are going down cuz the average enthusiast has an affinity for crossovers. Chevy has gained new market share due it's it's series of high powered halos.

Cant compare the zr1 to the McLaren 720s. Yes vette is a bargain supercar but the 720s is on a league on its own. There are numerous youtube videos where the new zr1 gets dusted by the 720s.

I'm sure MC Laren Is a much better handling chassis. But I would like to know if it dusted manual or auto ZR1's. Right now... Every you tube video I see is the manual. MC Lauren doesn't have a manual so I'm sure it has several advantages.

Going by these videos.... In the case of the 570... All transmissions being equal? I think the vette has the advantage. With manual you have to consider human shift time, is the person shifting within the powerband. etc... The auto in a ZR1 would tell the truth.

On the other video. I'm not saying a vette has the possibility of winning. What I will say is I only heard one engine being truly wrung out. N it wasn't the vette.

I'm glad Government Motors finally realized suspensions do important things. They are barely comparable when they are using competition tires and the others are on street tires. With out that they are slowed down considerable because of the huge amount of weight they carry. Now if they would only stop using raw iron they could not only lose weight they could have a rust warranty that is more then 6 years 100k miles.

Can't see the video (at work), but I did hear that Clarkson was enjoying driving a "James Herriot" around the US yesterday.

(or are you all too young to make the connection????)

The guys at Throttle House are just finishing a video of a Demon vs M4 on the track. Should be ready next week. It's a follow-up to the 'vette vs Camaro that I posted last month. They had a blast with that.
