Looks like honda will be offeringa stripper version with smaller wheels, less tech, but same drivetrain.

This should hopefully drive down the ridiculous ADM on current TypeR's and maybe the stripper can be had sub 30k?

What does the R stand for. Ridiculously overpriced?

If I was questioning if a Camaro is worth $44,789.27 before taxes? I'd shoot myself in the head of I paid over $30k for a fwd car with a non existent exhaust note.

lol an SS camaro will kick the typeR up and down the nurenberg ring, we are talking m3/m4 level performance for half price. the TypeR is nothing more than a mazdaspeed 3 with some more boost.

I've been following the typeR forums, some people on smaller rims and regular rubber are quikcly finding out their track toy its not really much better than your average v6 mustang on some good tires.

I never liked dealerships, but this price gouging bs made me dislike them even more..

Civic Type R is a solid car for $35k comparing to the Focus RS, WRX STI and Golf R. Other than the overly designed exterior, I can see myself owning one as a DD. But, I am definitely not paying $50k for it.

The back end of that hideous design is the ugliest angle I have ever seen from a modern car.

I was on the list for a CTR but when it came in I couldn't do it. Too over the top for my age, but would have been all over it 20yrs ago. My dealer only wanted sticker which I believe is reasonable since I am a diehard honda fan. I pulled the trigger on a hatch sport touring as I really really needed a second daily driver good on gas. Civics have gone way up since last owning one again 20yrs ago. But with all the technology and creature comforts I am super happy with it over my base Sentra I sold it for. $26k intelligent cruise, lane departure, brake assist, cheap leather, sunroof, navigation, seats front and back...i dig it. Mods are super cheap, already lowered, spacers, camber kit, hondata flash and tune and it is a blast to drive for a beater! The vents are hideous especially in the rear and will never grow on me but other than that loving the space.

Oh and FWD still sucks!

I would prefer a STI at that price range tbh. But I feel like the type R would be more appealing to a older crowd if it got rid of that massive wing

Waiz 11-04-2017 04:14 PM

OP, I can confirm this post from someone in the supply chain who is familiar with future products

Will help drive the price down for all CTR’s in general once more are on our shores
