Just bought a 2017 Nissan Maxima

Hey guys,

Just pulled the trigger on a brand new '17 Nissan Maxima SV. This will be my daily driver. I was hooked once I drove it. I did not think I would like it due to the CVT but I was amazed at how well it drove. The CVT is much improved. The handling, acceleration and engine noises are all superb. The full leather interior is stunning. It's one solid vehicle package.

I had been looking for a replacement for my '10 Mustang V6 DD for a while. I could not decide on anything. I did not want another Mustang or pony car for that matter because I wanted something different. I had looked at SUV's but they all looked the same and were basically boring unless I went very high-end. I hadn't considered the Maxima until I got one as a rental during a recent business trip. I knew right then and there, I wanted one. I was pleasantly surprised at the price.

The buying experience was mostly excellent. The salesman was knowledgeable and very professional. I got a multitude of rebates totalling $4000.00 and I also got an excellent trade-in value for the Mustang.

However, I did not like my experience with the finance guy pressuring me to buy the useless add-ons such as the extended warranty, rust/paint protection, glass etching, etc. My brother is a sales director at Acura and I know how this bullsh*t works. It's how the dealer makes the most money on a sale. I told the guy that he was wasting his time but he would just not let go. Damn, I hate car dealers.

Oh well, can't wait to take delivery. I will post up some pics once I do. The Maxima will look good in my driveway next to my 370Z Nismo. Living the Nissan dream! Well almost. The GTR is all that's missing.....LOL.

By the way, the finance sales guy is still hounding me. He has called me twice so far to try to sell me extras. Yesterday it was the infamous "paint protection". I am close to making a complaint. I mean this is almost on the verge of harassment.

I tell sales guys up front that I do not want add-ons like you mentioned, and if they keep badgering me about it.....I will walk right out. I've had to cut them off mid-sentence and remind them of that. It's a bit dickish, but non means no....They really take advantage of women and old people in transaction like this, a sales guy sold my 82 year old mom a Subaru Legacy R last summer when I was not able to go help her. Its a nice car, but too much for her.

The Maximas are sharp. Nice pickup.

Thanks. Now I just gotta make sure I don't neglect my Z. I haven't driven the Z for about 4 days. Damn, I really need to take it out for a long drive this week.

Anyways, the drive to work in the Maxima was fantastic. Its highway manners are perfect, soft enough to absorb bumps with ease and stiff enough to give it a European sedan feel. The revamped 3.5 V6 feels extremely strong and acceleration is almost instant. It's amazing what Nissan have been able to do with this new generation of CVT. It has synthesized gear changes which even fooled me at first. It also has great night time lighting, much better than my old Mustang on which I found the headlights absolutely awful. I'm extremely happy with my purchase so far.

Congrats!

I'm with you on the finance guy. When I purchased my Z, the dude spent like 25 minutes trying to sell me an extended warranty for a couple extra thousand. Funny part was, after he realized I wasn't budging, he ended up including the thing for free. Like, wtf - you just tried to sell me something you ended up giving away, how much can it really be worth?!?

Congrats, color looks good.

Show us the interior too!

Will be putting up more pics this weekend. It's an audit week at work and haven't had the time to even transfer my personal items back into the car.

The interior quality and fit/finish is this car's strongest asset. Nissan really upped the game. Probably a sign of things to come.

I would definitely call the dealership and speak with the Finance Manager or GM about it. If he calls again, ask to speak to his boss immediately.

Of course, some dealerships just operate that way and won't give a crap about your complaint. Bottom line is money. I know a guy who bought a "new" Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 for his wife from an out-of-state dealer and coordinated shipment himself. The car showed up with 1500 miles on it and the GM (owner's son) basically told him to screw off when he complained about the mileage. To top that, the engine threw a rod less than 500 miles later
