Bone stock Viper ACR does a 7:03 at the 'burg

Sets fastest lap for a manual gearbox, rear wheel drive car. :driving: Did it with the traction set on street mode, not track mode for most of the lap. Said there is more time to pick up.

Watch the Dodge Viper ACR's Wild 7:03.45 Nurburgring Lap Video

Chevy's new Z06 Vette will only do a 7.13.9

One wild ride; part of that course looked to be fit for Horse & Buggy.
Lotta beating & banging around at times.

Amazing time, awesome car. Though the term "bone stock" does not apply to the ACR Viper. ;-). Other than a Hennessy type engine upgrade, there's not much more you're gouing to do to it.

Interesting about the choice of traction control setting. Abundance of caution, or suitability for the 'ring? The track is like no other, in terms of length and elevation change. I don't know how this car's systems work, but I'd think it would heat the brakes up needlessly to run with the traction controls on. But the car has a physical LSD, not a virtual one (the usual cause of excessive brake abuse by nannies).

You watch him sawing on the steering? He's on the hairy edge! :driving:

Maybe we all can donate to someone to take a 370Z around the 'ring to see what it will do. :rofl2: Hey Nissan, you listening? :rofl2:

Dodge finally hits the lotto with ACR because you can actually drive the damn car and they quit making it...WTF! The noise that bitch make is atrocious. Come on now it sound like a bunch of big rocks in a garbage can. The Hemi sounds so much better than their V10!

Anyway, it was an awesome drive and Farnbacher was on the ragged edge! Love it...

The Viper V10 with headers sounds like a UPS truck. :rofl2: I driven a few. Nothing like have over 600 lbs of torque to play with.

That video makes me want to take some driving classes. I've done a couple autocross events but being on a track would be awesome. My biggest problem is headroom is already an issue for me and I don't know how I'd fit in anything with a helmet...lol. The autocross events were in a Miata with the top down.

I haven't had the opportunity but my wife did, she said it scared the **** out of her. She said every time she would drop the clutch it would spin the back tires and fish tail. There are a couple of guys that ACR's that are members of AZ NASA. It's hard not to just stare at them like a nine year old stares at a race car!
