I'm going to say something VERY CONTROVERSIAL. but true.... Everybody wants to Big Up the Cayman as the superior car. The Cayman is composed of EVERY ELECTRONIC gadget available to make it be what it is.... It's a computer on wheels with the best ARTIFICIAL ELECTRIC STEERING money can buy. This in my opinion goes against EVERYTHING that driving should be. Our current Z is the most electronic intervention I can tolerate from a car. The 4C IS EVERYTHING a car should be. I don't even think the car has anti lock brakes. No power steering. 2400lbs no power assist on the steering. It's ths most pure driving machine on the planet. It has v8 muscle car numbers with a tiny forced induction 4banger.... It's a retro marvel. A one of a kind. Porsche is a status quo car. More hype than substance by comparison of the Alfa. The Alfa is the truest sports car on the planet right now for the money because it's the most visceral. |
It must have ABS. Any new car sold in the US since 2013 has been required to by law.

This may not happen in my life time or ever, but i'd like to see a Japanese car with a v8, the trend seems to be smaller engine + boost

My local Fiat/Alfa dealer has a brand new 2015 model that they haven't been able to sell, it's priced almost 20k below msrp right now. It's a loaded white one from what I could tell.

But it's the tow vehicle :) Plus the track car, about 700 hp total |
It's called Lexus, and they handle like poo.

As a pure toy, maybe this is reasonable, otherwise ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyL-5WQzMQE |

Feedback is almost nill from Porsche electronic power steering. Everything glorious about the current gen Cayman is based on electronic intervention. Be it, steering feel, intelligent traction control distributing power to each wheel. Computer controlled damping etc.... all of what's happening is artificial to make you look like a champion. Get in a Z. Turn off VDC, Get over 30mph and all your electronic assists are off. Even with vdc on you just don't get the same level of intervention. Sure Porsche intervention is seamless. It's about as perfect as a traction system can be. But the advantages of a Porsche ECU will always be the dominant factor of your driving experience. Your inputs are always enhanced. That is not true of a Z. The meaning of a drivers car had been skewed in the new millennium. A 4c.... now that's what a real sports car should be. Same as the viper. |
What do you want to know?
http://i.imgur.com/UjI7Mpr.jpg I realize that this is the 370Z forum, but since I'm going to be learning from you on the Nissan side, perhaps I can return the favour on the Alfa front a little. Just got the (used) 370Z and barely have 20 miles on it (including test drive and trip home). Now they are both hibernating together until some time in April. Don't worry, my wife's last car was a Honda, so the Alfa speaks Japanese. :-) I'll post a bit of a comparison, so far, when I get a chance. Spoiler: The 370Z is my wife's car. I may drive it from time to time, but they'll pry the keys to the 4C from my cold dead fingers. |

Sorry - getting used to this forum and how to post pictures.
Here's the un-cropped version. |

I think besides Z35, Nu-Supra, and 4C, I'm officially thinking about a MX-5 RF +boost... hmm. |
