If Nissan doesn't do a new Z, then I'll keep the one I have and get a Cayman S. Might as well have 2 impractical cars for driving in snow.... :bowrofl:

I test drove some Porsches including a Cayman S, regular Cayman and Boxsters. I liked the solid feel and handling of all of the, but the fact they have no torque and you need to wring its neck to get something out of it turned me off. Add in the expensive maintenance and repairs and I was out.

I did the test drive on the Z06. It was a very short drive unfortunately. Just enough to take some aggressive turns, a few hard accelerations and some hard braking.

All I can say is... WOW!!! What an emotional car!!
Its TRULY amazing. I think the Z06 May possibly even be overkill. I wanted to test drive the GS but they were in the process of selling the one they had.

Stylistically, the front and back are crazy!!! From the side. I think it needs a Lil bit more but irs still nice. Inside. I have mixed feelings. After sitting in the camaro and turning it on I felt the camaro looked better inside. But I wish the secret cubby behind the screen existed in the camaro. The fit and finish are similar but the camaro has some more exposed cheaper looking plastics. I think the $20,000 discount made the corvette perfect. But it was in reality a $15,000 discount. The price was jacked up a Lil and discounted. But even at $15,000. It's an insane deal.

The question is. Is it so good I'm willing to pay $85,000 for it?

My answer is YES!!! And NO!!! I think it's totally worth it and it's a hundred times better than my Z when it was stock. 10X better in one aspect with my mods. In another. The Z still has a special character to it that's hard to let go of. Not that I was willing to trade. But I definitely would want to at minimum, drive the ZL 1 before dedicating myself.

With cars like the Guilia Quadrofoglio, The Porsche 911 GTS and possibly, the Z35. It's still hard for me to pull the trigger.

I DONT WANT TO BE TRADING CARS and losing money cuz I bought one thing then wanted the other. I intend on test driving the Q60S next.

The corvette is amazing. The only advantage the Z has is its overall dimensions and feel in the corners at least on the street. I'm sure it ALL changes on a track. But I could be saying that due to the minimalistic seat time I had... Corvette width is something I need to adjust to and may have impeded my critique with such little time. I'm blown away though.

The corvette is amazing.

That color is hot. But the wheels are screaming "aftermarket".

Smashley 12-28-2016 02:03 PM

The C7 feels a little tighter when sitting in it compared to the Z. I am a big man however the Z feels roomier.

You've never heard of black cherry or burgundy as colors? Because that's essentially what this is. And an up barge premium paint it has tons of metal flake in it too

Except they're not. They ar the normal Grand Sport wheels in chrome. And they're bitching. You black wheel folks are going to wake up before too much longer and realize what a silly fad that was. These wheels show so much more detail and look so more engineered/mechanical than black or gray wheels...

They feel about the same inside to me. The visibility is better in the Vette, too. Those small back windows on the Z are useless since the headrest is always in the way, but they're usable on the Vette.

A fun, multi-page, debate on the fad of black wheels.

When will the fad of having all black wheels end?

I suspect when the "fad" of manually-driven cars ends, then most of the associated car "fads" will go to the wayside.

:iagree:, gunmetal or matte black would be money.

Fad? If anything chrome should be the fad when it comes to wheels. Chrome was cool late 90's early 2000, but its really tired and played out with the exception if done right on a sedan. Do you see Ferrari's or Porsches with oem chrome rims? In my opinion they look tacky on a sports car.

JC-Nismo 12-29-2016 07:47 PM

Black wheels suck!!! Look like dirty hubcaps......

ped 12-29-2016 07:49 PM

Anything more than 10 feet away and black wheels have basically zero detail - just looks like a black hole where wheels should be. I don't get the attraction.

I find the chrome wheels Awsome in your GS.

But I would think it wouldn't be good in some colors like velocity yellow Or white C7

This one is not so bad either on a burgundy ZO6.

But everything is relative to ones own eye. Both looks great to me.

I think the red accent did the contrast on the black wheels to make it pop out.

NISMO IX 12-30-2016 04:08 AM

Chrome=BLING,BLING, some people like the performance without the flash. I saw a YouTube clip of an all chrome 370Z in the UK I think. Chrome in any aspect makes me wanna :barf:
Just my honest opinion but in the end if it is what you like, to each their own right?

Zoren 370 12-30-2016 06:08 AM

Guys this thread is about our fellow member sharing his GRand Sport Corvette.

Everybody has the right to share his/her own opinion about whats good or bad about having chrome wheels or black wheels. I did share mine.

Lets get back to topic of congratulating our fellow member for moving up two notch higher in getting one of the greatest engineering marvel that Chervolet has given to the American people and all car enthusiast around the world.

At the end of the day whatever is our opinion about that chrome wheels good or bad, OP drives around Dallas Texas mighty and proud that he drives a beautiful C7 GS.

While the rest of us still drives an outdated 7 going 8 year old sports car. Sadly.
So who among you is bold enough to make that switch and live your biggest dreams?

Op on behalf of all the members I apologize. We are not here to bash your Corvette.
We admit most of us are envious but we are happy for you and your new beast of a C7 GS with or without chrome .:tup:

Btw do you have an account at any Corvette forum? PM me and I'll see you there.

NISMO IX 12-30-2016 07:17 AM

I just felt the need to speak for myself, I am happy for Ped. The latest Vette is the only model Vette that actually appeals to me. I feel Chevy got it right for once. So, bashing? No I wasn't bashing on the Vette or our fellow forum friend's new ride. I was kind of bashing chrome while explaining everyone likes what they like.

And lastly, there are NO envious feelings here. I am happy with what I drive no matter how many times I myself have been bashed for driving them.

Cheers!

How's the gearing? Is it very tall?

I had proper mirror positioning in the Z and also in the Vette, where you can't see any part of your own car. I'm just saying the Vette has a bit better visibility than the Z.

It has the shorter gearing of the Z51 (shorter than the Z06 gearing). Mine is the 7-speed manual.

How do you like the magnectic ride?

Any upcoming mods your thinking of doing?

I love the magnetic ride - I leave it in sport or track most of the time, and drop into touring if the road gets bumpy.

I'm thinking of the CAGS bypass mod (prevents the forced 1-4 shift) and possibly XPel film or ceramic coating. And maybe the MGW short shifter, but really this tranny is already awesome so I doubt I'll do that one.

By all means Im glad the GS is out there as an option, I would not even consider the GS as inferior in anyway. Who cares if some people at corvette forum calls it as such. But I do think they dont mean it in a negative way. Some people have different perspective how they see things. I do. I see the positive in negatives.

What the heck...Im even proud to say I drive a fake Nismo. Lol
Yes sir I really do.

Op congratulations!!!...your living my dream.

Just waiting for the stars and moon to line up in the right direction I would go the same route.
But I would still keep my fake nismo and get a fake Z06(GS)

Then i would have 2 fake sports cars! Lol

For track the GS is the better option anyways
the Z06 is way to much and if you have the AT you have overheating problems

Im this close to selling my Nismo and buying a Z06 for Street/Cars and coffee duty , ive seen used ones for 70K when new they were 100K +

Hey buddy its been long since I saw you post in here.
Go for it man! If you have the skill to tame the Z06 go for it!

Me I decided to keep my Z. I still love my red seatbelts!

I have the MGW shifter for my Grand Sport and it is wonderful! You won't regret getting it. Yeah, that 1-4 forced shift is annoying as hell but can be tuned out in HP Tuners if you go that route.
