Hyundai RM16 MID-ENGINED hot hatch madness!!

SPYSHOTS: Hyundai RM16 N Concept in the metal

So Hyundai is testing a production version of their mid engine hot hatch. Amazing lines, looks like is based on there veloster original design? Hoping this this has either RWD or AWD or both?
Maybe fwd won't even be so bad if the weight of the engine is to the rear? It may work? But an AWD Option should exist!!!
I give Hyundai credit for doing something completely unique to the game...

It might, but it turns right.

This is serious **** though.... "Mid-engine". That's more than sporty. With the Evo gone this may fill a niche alternative. When in history has their been a mid engine hatch?

Wow looks like an evolved MR2, which is not a bad thing at all!

May seem sporty but Iv only seen garbage from Hyundai, from personal experience and two friends.

The interior is utter garbage and noises popup within weeks of ownership. Dash squeaking or rubbing of interior pieces. The car idles like its been driven for years and been poorly maintained when it has less then 5k miles.
Hyundai, no matter how visually appealing they are making their cars, are still made with cheap parts.

Not sure how Id feel if my 2015-2016 vehicle had more interior vibrations and louder running engine than a car 10-11 years older than it and over 100k more miles.

Two sonatas and an elantra is where I got this experience from

What years are the cars ur talking bout cuz I have friends n family with Hyundai's with polarizing results.

I used to drive a veloster R spec, I don't have any issue with the car. Gas is pretty good, the car response is good, handling is good, power for it class, it down good for the price. Only reason I trade the car because I want the nismo.

Firebase99 10-31-2016 10:17 AM

A few of my colleagues have Kias and Hyundais from Veloster, to K900, Cadenzas and my 3.8 Genesis. All are 2013+ newer. None of us has any issues. Well my moonroof button was sticking a while back. The 2013+ are different ball of wax. They really are great cars for the money. They are from perfect obviously, but thats true of any car.

2013 elantra, 2014 sonata base and sonata turbo.

I mean, I started liking Hyundai in 2012-2013 but 3 out of 5 people I know that own them had the "issues" I stated above.

At 60% poo rating, I just went ahead and crossed the entire make off my list of potential cars I'd own.

People have asked my opinion and I just say "Go read consumer reports because what youd hear from me is nothing but negative"

I dont want to be responsible for swaying someones decision.

It reminds me of this. Anyone remember this?

Gotta give Huyndai credits for bringing something different to the market. The more options we have the better imo. Nissan builds crap cars too, take all the issues with the 370z for example. And their customer service is garbage to non existent, the worse experience I've ever had were all with Nissan dealerships. The 370z was my first Nissan in the family and everyone thought I was nuts buying a Nissan. Point is no one manufacturer is perfect, it's how they responds to the problems is what matters most. People will have their opinions and biases and that's fine. Be glad we have other options to play with.

Hyundai still gets lots of hate... But there are less and less haters every year.

I should know. I was one of them.

We bought the wife's Hyundai in 2011... A 2.0T Sonata. Close to 80k miles later and the car still drives like a dream. Only been to the dealership once in that time. Everything works. No weird rattles. No issues. Just basic maintenance. I use that car as my "work horse". I did complete basement renos using that car to haul everything LOL

Their interiors are of cheaper quality, but with each subsequent generation, they get better. Hyundai was smart and packed tech into their cars but opted for cheaper interior materials to be able to sell their cars at a lower price point. Those gaps are closing. They've already surpassed Honda/Acura in reliability and are nipping at their heals in terms of quality. Not there yet, but soon enough.

Stigmas die hard when it comes to any car. Hyundai knows this and is clearly pursuing a long term plan that seems to be panning out for them. I know a few others with kias and hyundais and none of them share the problems you mention.

Maybe the cars you are referring to were built on a Monday :rofl2:
