Lancer Evolution FE

I'm planning on getting another car as a daily driver either the final edition, wrx sti, or possibly lexus RC F. Any thoughts on the 2015 Lancer Evolution Final Edition??

id do the RC-F out of those 3.

Had a buddy sell his 2008 evo with 65k miles for only 6k less than he bought it for brand new in 2009, so if you want something that holds value, get the evo.

It's ridiculous the way they hold value, I assume the FE will not drop in value at all.

I am considering buying one just because of that reason,

all those new mustangs, camaros will be maybe 40% of their value in 5 years while the evo is ridiculously high.

RC-F is a soulless porker!

EVO

I got the 2016 STI as a daily and I'm super happy with it even with shitty gas mileage ha ha

thanks, great feedback! I wished the FE came with recaro seats, didn't know they discontinue those

Two reasons I didn't go after a new Evo -

1) they quit putting the Recaros in them - I couldn't go without after driving my friend's Evo X with the Recaros.

2) Insurance. Double my Z and I have no idea why - a 2015 STi was only a tick more expensive (as is my Q50S). The Evo was astronomical. I have a single speeding ticket on my record right now, so I would say I have a fairly average risk factor. I'm also over 25. I can't imagine being a non-homeowner under 25 and getting an insurance quote on that car. It'd probably be more than a payment on the car itself.

I'm hoping you're referring to an RC F-Sport and not an F - if you're in the price range of an RC-F and you're cross-shopping it with an STi and an Evo... you're doing it wrong. You should be cross shopping M4s, ATS-Vs, C-class AMGs, and used GT-Rs at that money. ;)

I say EVO or STi. If you already have a Z, then you should get an AWD for your daily. The RC-F, as someone else has stated, is very heavy and not all it's cut out to be - as per TopGear.

looking at the same choices as you. However, I am leaning towards the STI as it gives me full leather seats vs just cloth, as well as more updated electronic features that the Evo just doesnt have. I do love the blue Evo and can get a new left over '15 for 35k, but with them not making it anymore, I am like ehhhh

Hows the resale on an STI?

But STi torque takes ages to kick in. The EVO is hands down the better driver in every perceivable way. Even with dated technology! The WRX is better tuned for real world driving. All it really needs is a brake upgrade and an upgraded differential.

from wat i hear, if ure trading in the STI in the future for another subie, it appears they give you a great trade in value for being a loyal customer. u'd need to register online at their site to be an official subie owner member for this to happen though, so i heard.

the sti is a great package imo. id prefer an engine that pulls towards redline vs early torque and whimps out at the top. very disappointing all noise no power.

Resale is ridiculously good , i have seen modded and unmoded cars go for close or over MSRP on new ones
The main reason i went with a new 16 vs a used one

After staying up late doing some research on that I was blown away, seeing mint condition '04s with a stage two mod with 60k miles selling for 20k!! I was like OMG an '04 still pulling that much, insane. The Evo pulls on my heart strings for the "Final Edition" because I know it will only stay if not increase over time as they are numbered. But, the Evo Final Evolution does not have Leather and all of the modern bells and whistles. Its going to be a hard decision for sure, also, the Subaru dealer is only 15mins from the house vs all the way across Orlando to Mitsubishi.

Yah buddy, this will have to be my family car. We are having a baby at the beginning of April so I suddenly need to add a 4 door car to my fleet outside! No way in hell I'm dumping the 370z! So I dont want a crazy loud car that is unrefined for taking the new baby around. Also, the wife will have to be happy as well and she already thinks both the STI/EVO are ugly! haha
