RIde in a 2016 Vette

Very fast smooth ride, ... still 65K I like the Z. My friend has a C6 with custom tune and full exhaust. His wife has the new C7. Rode in them both back to back. Liked the C6 better as a sports car, but the C7 is just so much more refined. All around WOW day, then I went back to putting new shocks on my old Dodge 2500 V10.

For 65k it's well worth it. Went from my Nismo 370z to my C6 Grand sport. Night and day difference. Then drove the new stingray, and yeah, it's so much more refined and smooth. Not much of a power increase but enough to notice. It's really the updated suspension that really shines between the C6 and C7; well that and the interior. Then my friend bought a brand new C7 Z06. Let me drive it with less than 100 miles on the odometer. What a beast. Definitely the way to go in a car for 100k or less. I'll be going to a Z06 in the next year or two. See if your friend will actually let you drive the car, it's much easier to get a feel for it than riding passenger.

I just made a thread on this a couple of days ago about getting out of my Z and into a C7. The Vette is a dream car of mine and I can get one right now (stingray not a Z06) but I just don't think it looks better than my Nismo. Good to hear some opinions from those who have driven them both.

Is the handling on the Vette better than the Z? I was also considering a used C06 Vette instead of a Z, but thought the Z looks much better.

Saw a C7 Z06 took off at 70mph. That's one violent muthafcuker.

I think the Stingray/Z06 C7 is a bad *** car. The Z07 C7 looks so mean.

Co-worker has a '16 vette. He let me take it for a ride with him in it. After about 30 minute ride. He asked me how I liked it. Told him I wasn't impressed with it. :rofl2: Told him it has a number of problems he has to fix if he wants to keep up with me. :rofl2: The look on his face was worth it. :rofl2: It is a nice car though.

I drove a c6 and c7 vettes, both automatic unfortunately, so they didn't have much character. C6 is too loose overall, c7 has a bunch of body roll but better handling, just my opinion.

What did you think needs to be fixed on the c7? Interested in different people's opinions.

My co-worker, Gregg. Every time I get a chance to bust his balls. I do. :D The Vette is nice. But not my cup of tea, unless it's the ZO6. Some of the things I read about the new Vette is that they go into limp mode too on engine temp. There have been reports of the seats coming apart, and poor paint jobs. People ordering some options and not getting the options they wanted on the car when the car is delivered. My co-worker Gregg was PISSED when he picked up his vette.

With the regular C6 I feel the Z has better handling in all areas except one, long high speed corners. For example, typical fwy bend at greater than 120mph, the Vette will have the advantage of staying planted. Now compared to the Grand Sport Vette or a Z51 package I feel the Vette is better than the Z, even Nismo. The one advantage the Z has is that on a very tight course, like auto-x, the Z is shorter overall and has a shorter nose which makes it easier to not hit cones. Both my NISMO and GS Vette have almost no body roll. They corner very flat. Where the Vette is better is the suspension is far more livable for daily driving vs. the NISMO. Thats not to say I complained at all driving my Z to work every day, but girls didn't like it much for longer drives. The Vette retains the aggressive cornering capability while being far more livable on a commute. As for feel, I think thats a bit more subjective. I would hands down take the Z over a run of the mil C6 vette, but would hands down take a GS vette over the Z. With the Grand sport you get equivalent handling in the tight, better handling at higher speeds, and far more power.

Compared to a C6 Z06, it trumps the Z. All the good stuff I just mentioned about a GS vette except you get an LS7 with 505hp. Then again, it's a lot of power to control at the limit on a auto-x or road course. Z06 is for those who really know how to drive or just want to say they have a Z06 but not track it.

I quickly touch on grip. That was the biggest disappointment I had with the Z. My 09 touring/sport and my 2010 NISMO had very little traction out the hole. With TCS on the car wants to bog and cut your fun. With it off on the streets you can easily run into trouble quick, as we've all seen dozens of posts regarding this. Nissan should have tuned the TCS a lot better. Don't get me wrong, on a auto-x course or road course the TCS off the car is very grippy and stable. But just having fun on the streets, it's easy for the car to get away from you. Even when I changed to Michelin PSS on my NISMO, it was better, but the car could still easily get sideways hitting second gear. With the Vette leaving the nannys on the car allows for plenty of fun while intervening just enough to keep you safe. You can make a U-turn and let the back end get a little sideways coming out. With the Z, you'd get half way through and TCS would kick in bogging the hell out of it, then suddenly turn off lurching you forward. In fact any other RWD car I've driven has a better TCS than the Z.

Anyway, thats my take on it. Love the Z but Nissan has failed to update it over it's self life. It's stale and compared to other cars in its segment it's way behind. For me moving to a Vette was logical and the next step. I hope Japan wakes up and starts making exciting cars again cause right now they don't have much to compete with. For now I'll stick with my 300zx and 280z for my fix.

I went back and forth on the stingray and the nismo z and although the stingray is beautiful and has more power...I think the looks and power range are perfect for me in the Z.
