A couple of Nissan SR20's would pull a premium one week before race wars.

This is a Z forum, not an S chassis forum...unless you're planning on swapping an SR into your Z, what's the point of this useless thread? Take it to off topic if anything :ugh2:

Bro the SR came stock in the 2008 370z. This is completely relevant.

Probably the gasket head manifold filter oil that was a known issue in the original 240.

LOL, Ah that was the HR V6 engine. The SR20DE came in the older 240sx's.

Anybody know what all was done to the Maxima, i was always curious about that car, at the time I had a '91 SE with the VG30de motor that used to eat hondas up.

At that point in the movie Tran and company were asking where their engines were. The sales guy, Ted, owner of the race shop was supposed to have ordered the engines. However he was also a shady guy who did a lot of side illegal jobs. So when this comment was made it was Tran assuming Ted sold the engines off illegally to make more money ( a premium) rather than sell them normally to Tran like he was supposed to. Rational being that a week before race wars everyone is scrambling to get their cars prepped. As some of you know, sometimes before a competition things go wrong. For example, someone may have a SR20 that blows and someone is willing to pay double for a SR20 1 week before so that they can compete.

The bigger question is why Tran is even in the market for SR20's. We see him drive an S2000 later on but it begs the question if anyone in his crew was riding in a Nissan. Then again, it's a movie, who cares

Yes, that was the first Nissan V6 engine with Variable intake timing and 4 cams. I use to rebuild the VTC's a good bit. The SE Maxima with the 3.0 liter VG30DE and a 5 speed manual was an awesome car. It was a sleeper for sure. That engine was the start of the engine we have today.

The VQ35DE was a good motor on top of that. I had a 03 maxima and that was pretty quick.

I wish I would have had someone knowledgable help me with the intermittent valve clatter that plagued the car for years...it was loud and totally random.

LOL, that was due to the VTC's. The springs would get weak and clatter like hell when they were first started up. I have seen several that were rebuilt incorrectly. The tensioners and chain guides could of had issues also. The engine had 3 different chains and tensioners on it. It was about a 12hr job to go through the chain set and VTC's. The job had to be perfect the first time.
