My Jeep, and a destroyed Mustang

So my girlfriend was coming home from work Friday and clipped a guy when she was turning onto our street. Not sure if she cut it too close or he was inching out - you have to be way out to see at this intersection due to a wall. I'd guess speed was less than 10 MPH. Anyway...
The Jeep has a bent tie rod, front fascia is scraped up and that little panel needs to be repainted.
Here's the best part: Guy claims that this wreck did all the damage to his car! He was trying to tell the officer that his car was totaled because of it. LOL! Can't wait to see what he claims. Fortunately the officer was a friend of ours and said he could honestly testify that the wreck in no way did that damage.
I'm just going to guess that the headlights and bumper weren't even secured - maybe some zip ties? Like the guy at my body shop said, headlights just don't pop out from a little bump.

She's scared to drive the Z now, so I put her in my Ridgeline.

LMFAO, are you friggin kidding me??? The adjuster is gonna look at that pile of SHlT and say "Really Dude, all this just happened"??? Too funny.

Guy probably thought he had hit the lottery and won some free repairs when your wife clipped him.

Good luck.

I'm Impressed by the way the hood splinter cracked like that. Its a bit fuzzy but almost looks like fiberglass. Judging by the state of the car on the whole and the state of the bumper beam i'd venture a guess that it has some pre-existing issues LOL Sorry to hear about your fender bender. Hope it gets resolved painlessly.

Send the rustang to the cemetery and bury it.

Maybe the Mustang driver staged the accident? He sounds like the kind of dirtbag that would try such a thing.

Dumba$$es like that are likely to sue you as well to get what they want. Soon he will develop back pain and have a brace on his neck.

Hope everything works out well for you.

I run a transportation company, and this kind of crap happens ALL THE TIME. Of course the lawyers for the insurance companies always want to settle with these scumbags, and I say "no," because our loss/runs are directly correlated to our future premiums.

Good luck, man, hopefully it doesn't turn into a long odyssey with this guy.

Got the guy's name from the police report and of course went straight to FB to check him out. Last year on April 24, 2014 he posts a picture of his new truck. On May 1, 2014, he posts pictures of it wrecked. So we at least know he's a crappy driver. I mean, I've been driving for 29 years and had one wreck, my GF has been driving for 39 years and this was her second.

You spelled "Rustang" wrong.

THIS! is why I carry the highest limits I can right before the $1M umbrella policies. I was once hit by a girl (45mph, side-swiped me). Remember that, in my 370Z? Well, anyway, it did $13K damage to the car, medical and loss of work for a day ran $10K, and diminuition of value was another $4K...oh, and my state minimums were $15K medical and $20k property or something. I about maxed her policy. That was on a 45mph side-swipe. I was out for blood because her insurance company illegally authorized repair of my vehicle without my knowledge, bounced me between 3 adjusters, and in general just played games. I asked my lawyer to scorch the earth. Time and money in MY pocket no-issue. I wanted to cost THEM as much as I could.

Let's not judge. I've been in several wrecks. One was a drunk running a light. One was a dumb Mexican driving in America who pulled out into a busy 4-lane disregarding a stop-sigh and freezing up right in front of me. One was a girl losing control of her SUV and side-swiping me into a guardrail on an over-pass. One was a girl who rear-ended me because someone in front of me stopped at a green light, and so did I (it was a slow stop, not a panic stop). She did not. One was a guy who plowed into my vehicle WHILE I WAS PROPERLY PARKED PUMPING FUEL INTO IT AT A GAS STATION....so you can't really judge just because someone has a wrecked vehicle on HOW it happened or WHO did it. PS. I am 29.

P.S. I'll never ask you for a ride :)
