It was discussed earlier that the Z never used Takata bags.

04-07 for Nissan cars
08-15 for "select" Nissan cars

Ours aren't on the list.

Recall list site: safercar.gov. I checked, no recall... at least for my vin#.

jmayz 05-19-2015 07:32 PM

I'm glad you posted this. I checked all of the cars we own and we are good! They said on the news 1 out of every 7 cars on the road! Scary!

Thanks for the info

What's the issue with them anyway? They explode randomly or something?

They explode, but don't inflate the airbag, so you get shrapnel in your face instead. Several deaths have been caused by it.

I know others have said the Z isn't on the list, but here's a VIN look-up if you want to double-check or if you have another Nissan:

Please Note: If you are checking to see if your vehicle is affected by the Takata air bag recalls, it generally takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks for automakers to gather individual VINs associated with a recall. It is important that you check back periodically as a recall on your vehicle may not show up immediately.
