2014 gtr

Just back from my local dealership and there is a 2014 GTR, brand spanking new, for $25k under sticker. Is this a good deal or not?

For a leftover 2 year old car and the 2015s were getting close to $17-18K off of a couple of months ago (some lucky bastards got more). No, but it's a good start.

vtec to vvel 05-02-2015 07:42 PM

why get the 2014 when you could get even more brand spanking new for $25k more?

MagmaRed370z 05-02-2015 07:47 PM

I think its an alright deal. They will probably go even lower if you negotiate.

tweZ74 05-03-2015 05:54 PM

Look at the differences. Has the model changed significantly in the newer ones? I don't believe they have. I'd say that's a pretty darn good deal considering the price you'll pay and the depreciation hit you'll take!

my take on getting a higher-end car is you shouldn't buy it if you are concerned about depreciation. you shouldn't buy it if it's gonna make every penny you earn go into the car and have nothing left over to enjoy. and you shouldn't buy if you won't have the $ to do the maintenance either yourself or the dealer.

DCNISMO 05-04-2015 01:11 PM

With the new ones being cut in price....have the used ones dropped accordingly? They should have...by now.

Totally agree. My friend used to work at Newport Beach import group as a finance guy; I believe this dealer is now Fletcher Jones Mercedes. Anyways, when he worked there in the late 90s, he told me that guys who could afford new Porsches, either paid for them in cash or leased them. He said that wannabes are the guys who had to finance them, or bought used ones because they couldn't afford them brand new. These guys on the lower end made $300K/yr. and it wasn't uncommon to see customers that made over a 1M$/yr.

Yeah, putting most of your eggs into a high end car when you only make "working class" level money isn't a smart idea. And it's only a matter of time before that car says bye bye because the flat bed comes to pick it up....while you're sleeping.

used gtr's are lower obviously than new gtr's. however, i wouldn't expect a drastic drop in price, as nissan, and generally all japanese cars, hold their values. i also would imagine that there would be little or no wiggle room with the gtr when it comes to price - if you don't buy it, someone else will.

i highly doubt there's any room to negotiate the prices on a gtr. for a car like the gtr, if you don't buy it at a certain price, there is somebody that will pay asking price.

Jordo! 05-05-2015 01:26 AM

I can't make judgments based on MSRP... however, you were able to get a new GT-R, so that is awesome -- congrats

Pshhhh... if its for sale, the price is negotiable.

Which is exactly why it's still sitting there with $25k off the sticker.

My Z is for sale. You should buy it. It's available for $3k off sticker.

Tigger 05-05-2015 07:11 PM

Why get a GTR when you can get a Porsche?

Why get a Porsche when you can get a GTR and, depending on the model, for thousands less but can keep up, if not beat, a Porsche, again dependent on the model?

see comment below on why's it's still sitting there. the only way i would see them budging on price is if you walked in there with cash. but even then, i doubt they would take much off.

lol. forgot about this post.

Let me just say this without trying to start a debate and go off topic... i think you fail to see what owning a porsche is all about and what it feels like to drive one. I initially meant that first comment to be humorous which went way over your head.

Each car has its pros and cons. I still don't understand at what point you say that the GTR will beat the 911 (depending on what model? lol) The GTR is far too automated and a kid could run it hard without too much fear of going off the road. Master the art of driving a 911 and I will shake your hand because that is one tough bitch to handle well. It embodies the ART of racing. Not just to set records on the "ring".

if you took my post as offensive, my bad, as I wasn't trying to start anything. we cool man. And I know the post you made that I responded to was out of humor, as was mine. It's like those old "my civic hatch w/ b16 swap can beat your v8!" things, where the gtr is considerably less but can keep up/beat certain higher end cars.

lol. Yeah man. I've read enough of your posts to know we are mostly on the same page. No worries. I think I was actually in a pissy mood already this morning when I stumbled on that so my bad if I seemed to respond poorly. I will always defend the 370 and the Nismo models. Still love it to death. Just wish I could fit in it easier. Too damn tall and can't wear a helmet inside. And the GTR? Give it a facelift and we'll talk.

ha! You know, I see one and I think, yeah ok, I know it is a GTR. Sweet. But then I look again and I feel like I'm staring at some nasty fat chick's ***. Like, it is so nasty you can't believe what you see but you can't look away. And then I wake up and avert my eyes before I go blind. :icon17:

I totally respect the GTR, but I would rather get a Porsche 911 Carerra S with much less power for a bit less money. That's just my preference, of course.

Magic Bus 06-27-2015 05:08 PM

I hear you Angelo, 911S's are sweet. Unfortunately not really cheaper than GTR's though, base manual starts at $99k and auto is $103k and if you want any options on that S, you're above what a Premium GTR costs.

vtec to vvel 06-27-2015 05:20 PM

if im gonna spend the kind of money it takes to buy a gtr, then im going for the nismo model. might as well IMO.
