This is a segment, I normally would scoff at but AMG is making a believer out of me... It's like a Hatchback EVO. :driving:

I agree, I personally would take the GLA45 AMG vs the Macan Turbo. The Porsche SUVs are still "rich soccer mom"-ish to me......

Really not the same segment: Macan is a larger platform. X1 /// is closer to the GLA in terms of size and market.

Say what you want about appearances (soccer moms? really? Is it 1998?) but if you forced me to drive a SUV/SAV sized vehicle it would be a Macan then a Cayanne.

They handle amazingly well for their sizes. Go drive them and tell me you'd rather be in something else, including an X5 for example :)

Since 2008, Mercedes has been getting progressively better in the U.S. But 2014+, they've rediscovered being a benchmark brand again... Not only in luxury, but in performance as well.

The GLA 45 is seriously an STI for grownups. It is seriously a ridiculous car that will make you feel like a hooligan (in a good way). Especially if you get the awesome optional spoiler.

Macan is definitely a way better place to be inside in terms of luxury. GLA has the bottom tier interior luxury, the same as the CLA, A and B class. And that tablet nav screen is just terrible and tacky. When in park or idle, you will be wishing the car had the interior to match its price. But then again the interior kind of matches what the GLA is. Its a fun car meant for hooning and being a tad juvenile (which there is nothing wrong with), and is not meant to be babied at all like a more luxurious car such as a Macan. You would treat it like you would treat a mistress, whereas the Macan would be your wife. Therefore, the interior is more well suited than one would imagine. Oh, and with the AMG performance exhaust, you will be chuckling every time you rev the thing.

lol I'm completely obsessed with what AMG as been doing in the sports car world. I'm love the GLA45 AMG, the C63 AMG and my most desired ride... The AMG GT-S... I plan on test driving all these cars in mid- summer. That is when i'll be in the position to purchase.

I test drive cars all the time but this is one small group of cars i don't want to drive till I'm ready to buy because... I'll die if i fall in love now then

I completely agree. The new C63 is so amazing. I just wish it had wider fenders in typical AMG fashion bc it looks identical to a c300 with the AMG line option. Haha ya don't test drive until you're ready to buy. Otherwise you may make a poor financial decision like I always do when it comes to cars.. lol.
C450 is also gonna be really nice and you can actually get a decent discount on one as well as good finance rates, whereas they never give discounts on AMG cars. I know a guy who got 18% off of his 2015 C class from Mercedes of Long Beach (I forgot if it was C300 or 400), which is astonishing. That's about 10K off. I tried negotiating for the GLA 45 I drove and was offered only a couple thousand off sticker.

Sounds good. A Mercedes is definitely in my future. Which one? Not sure yet... Mercedes won me over because they are the ONLY "premium" brand right now that understands the importance of hydraulic steering unit characteristics in a sports car.
