Possibly, but this would be moving in the opposite direction of the government's push to discontinue the mass production of engines larger than V6. Most likely, a foreign competitor would not get the approval. Also, I can't see the company putting an intercooler on a V8...but I guess we won't know until later this year.

I don't think the v8 fits in the current gencoupe body, even if they raise the hood, the engine was to wide.
Now they could modify the engine bay a little to squeeze it in, but by the looks of that front mount intercooler I bet this is a new 4 banger turbo or possibly a new v6TT to compete with others.

I didn't even notice the intercooler.

So... Hyundai really can't figure out what the Genesis Coupe is supposed to be? :p It has gone through more revisions since its inception than I have gone through pairs of underwear.

The 3.8 already gets worse fuel economy than a GT-R, I think Hyundai would be insane to introduce a V8 now with the 2025 government mandate looming. This would be a giant step backwards for a company that's already having trouble with fuel economy.

Its the test mule with the rumored 3.3L Turbo.

I get the exact same MPG in my 3.8 that i did my 370...neither are stellar and its the least important thing to me. Id club a seal pup while burning down the Amazon if it netted me more POWA!!!
