A must mod for the Z - TWM Performance Short Shifter

Hey there, everyone was checking out my short shifter last weekend after the Delta Run and the consensous was "click-click and smooth" so here is the info for ordering direct thru TWM Performance. The forum vendor charges the same price if not more, cut out the middle man I say and go direct.

Notice all the references in the description to the other short shifters on the market. This is truly the short shifter to go with. Everyone that has driven my Z has stated this is the BEST short shifter on the market and they either have or experienced B&M short shifters and concluded TWM is a superior product.

The extra weight on the shift knob (600 grams) makes the difference in smooth shifts without that clunk feeling and sound, mostly found with other brands. The heavy shifter knob deadens the clunk between gears. It's so heavy that at first I thought I was going to shove the shifter thru the radio. The momentum alone quickens the throw.

I also added some other goodies that make the TWM Performance experience even more enjoyable.

One of if not the best mod I made to the Z

Negative, just because camera angle favors you, doesn't mean you won. That first race was a dead tie, you did win the second race, bad launch on my part. But don't forget the next 3 races where I dusted you!!!

Oh ValidusVentus I did some research. The Motorola Channel 5-3 that my long range Kenwoods are hard coded to is 462.6625 MHz GMRS/FRS Interference Eliminator Code (privacy code) 3. If your radios do not have the option to choose an Interference Eliminator Code (privacy code) then you will not be able to tx/rx on the same channel.

Interesting... thanks for the info. Just did a little looking into it. They do have DCS and CTCSS (privacy code) ability -I think the Interference Eliminator Codes are just a certain combination of these- and in fact have the ability to scan for active DCS and CTCSS "channels" so it should be able to scan and match whatever is thrown at it. In theory, and assuming I can make it work!

I used the scan feature and was able to have comms with the other guys radios last week after we were done. Not sure if they were using privacy codes at that point. Were yours talking with everyone elses? If so I think we are good and we have 2 more radios.

SuperDave 03-27-2014 10:35 AM

Yes, CTCSS = Interference Eliminator Code (or privacy code). From what I read however, scanning will not find it, you have to manually tune it to 3. So you should be able to set yours to 462.6625 CTCSS-3. Yes, mine talk with everyone else's, when set to (motorola) 5-3

They actually can scan for active DTS codes and CTCSS tones (suprisingly). Once it has identified them I should be able switch to them easily. Just printed out the manual ;) But since you found the CTCSS code I need already -thx btw- this should be a piece of cake either way.

BAOFENG UV-5RE+ Dual Band Ham Radio <- amazon link, not the manual

They are a PITA to program though.

Looks like you guys had a fun time at the airstrip. I've only been there a couple times but planning on shooting a short video there the end of the month. Once I get these new wheels/tires I need to join more meets/cruises.

SuperDave 04-10-2014 03:02 PM

For sure, we need more southern members, I pass through your hood every day going and coming to and from work. Was actually thinking about doing the fathers day Tracy mall car show in June.

XPNSD IT 04-11-2014 05:24 PM

Alright, yea I know of a couple in our area, ones coming up in Stockton hosted by autosport209/bump music fest if your into that EDM music. If you know of any upcoming meets/show let me know I'll be down to roll out with you.

Dont think you guys got rid of me just yet...

I just purchased a 2009 370Z Touring Sport anotger Mag Black, but this time around I picked up the 7speed Auto flappy paddle gear box. :) I cant wait to get back behind the wheel of a Z again. 20kmiles and I picked it up for 22,500.

1st 04-20-2014 11:58 AM

That's what's up Tempestz.
